Can you imagine having to explain why he wasn't good enough to draft
Now next year is the real idea how good he can be after they got and studied more tape on him
But he seems to be having a pretty good year
But one year does not make a QB

I think @Ed Vette and I were the few that wanted Bo; now, to be fair, I wanted to trade back to get him, which wouldn't have been possible.  For me, it was either Daniel or Nix.

He also has an Elite Offensive mind for a HC which can cover up a lot of warts.

Yes..Payton has molded him extremely well ..and Nix has a ton of experience at the position from college. It shows you find the right fit with a skill set,the measurables aren't everything.

It's more than just an elite offensive mind; it's an elite head coach.  Elite head coaches draft a quarterback with a plan to develop them.  Lesser coaches do not.  Plus the Broncos had the best infrastructure around a rookie QB.

ALl that said, Nix is playing well.   Although, I wonder if fans would be happy.  Since the Giants have had Daniel Jones week after week, I have seen Daniel Jones compared with the elite quarterbacks.  Nix may prove to a solid NFL QB, but I am doubtful he will prove elite.   So would the team be happy with a middle-of-the-pack QB after 6 years of saying middle-pack QB was unacceptable?

Plus, it would have been harder to develop a quarterback without a number-one wide receiver like Nabers.

One other point.   Nix had a great game against a bad defense.  Overall, Nix is:

24th in PFF overall grade
21st in QBR
21st in QB rating
27th in EPA per pass

I'll be happy be more than happy with a rookie as a "middle of the pack" QB. They are cheap, you can use the saved money elsewhere.

I'm less happy with an experienced veteran as a middle of the pack QB, who was paid at the time as a top ten QB. Unless of course that vet is nothing more than a stop-gap to the new QB.

Yes, it certainly helps when a QB can feast on a poor defence. That's for sure!

I wanted a trade back too, but after three QB's went off, I wanted him more than McCarthy. I think they could have traded with Minnesota. Maybe Atlanta. But at that point, on draft day, I would have taken Nix over Nabors or happy with McCarthy.

This kid will be Drew Brees 2.0. Not bad for a first year QB. He's gotten better every week. Schoen and Daboll were so enamored with Daniels that they went half hearted on Maye and the other guys probably weren't in the conversation.

The progression he has made in year 1 is exactly what you want to see.

On another note, what a difference in the competitiveness of the divisions.  Atlanta is chasing and NFC South title, Denver isn't in the conversation for division title and it looked like they were playing against a JV squad.

MrGap92

He is playing well, but at the same time not all QBs are equal, no telling if he would have been as good, better, or worse here.

He is doing a great job though.

Water Over or is it Under? But then when your own guy goes 24-44-1 in 5 1/2 seasons, it does kinda highlight our second-guessing skills.

Cheers!
