Roster evaluation is tanking?  It's entirely possible Hyatt performs just as well or better than Slayton the difference being Hyatt will be on the team next year.  Same for Neal vs that Hubbard guy. Lock vs Devito is basically a wash.  But again Devito is gonna be here next year Lock probably not.  So yes, I do think Mara would sign off on roster evaluation.  And frankly, I don't much care what he thinks.  This is what they SHOULD do.

It won't be a tough decision to bring in Lock in a second half if things go badly. They are officially done with Jones with this decision.

Another reason for fan favorite Tommy D, asses in the seats.

I just hope the fans experience at the game, is more enjoyable than the drive out of the lots. Lately it hasn't been the case.

Otherwise the medium Pepsi might make a comeback.  :hurt:

From what I have seen from John Mara he wants to win. He doesn't care if the wins are meaningless or hurt the team's draft status.  So I have to think: before Mara signed off on DeVito, he asked his team, "Does DeVito give the Giants the best chance to win?"

While we can give a wink and a nod to "roster evaluation", I can't imagine Mara falling for such a claim.  Don't forget the last 7 games are also an evaluation of the GM and HC.

I genuinely don't believe any regime are benching a 40 mil per year "franchise QB" for a 2nd year UDFA if their jobs are on the line.

Somebody mentioned earlier they are both safe, save for a Judge like meltdown. I have and do subscribe to that point of view.

If I'm wrong, I'll own it and say it. After all, it's just a message board. It'll be easier enough to tuck into my crow.

In my opinion people obsess way to much over right and wrong to the detriment to quality conversation.

If the Giants go 0-7 in the last 7 games and Schoen and Daboll can't blame Daniel Jones, it would seem reasonable to believe that Mara and Tisch would have to consider if the team that assembled a 2-15 team 3 years after inheriting a 4-13 team that the leadership may not be capable of turning the ship around.

I don't think it to be some sort of a trick, I think they do need to see what guys like Hyatt and Devito bring to the table. If Neal plays the last 7 games at even a serviceable level that's a BIG deal for what plans in the offseason end up being.  They're going to be getting that Jones money back, at least some of it anyway, so they need to know where to spend it. Mara has to understand this.  If he doesn't then why hire a GM at all and just do the job yourself like Jerry.

If we can all agree that going 0-7 is the best possible outcome for the Giants future, why is it so hard to believe Mara understands it to?  I know that the players and coaches are a different thing.  Nobody will actively try to lose games by doing wild stuff like playing Singletary at QB.  But to say we need to know if Neal is fixed or if Hyatt is any good or if Devito can be QB2 next season or not why would it be a hard of a sell to the front office or owners box.  Unless winning between 5 and 9 games every season is the ultimate goal, they gotta look at the big picture and work towards winning another super bowl.

Which gives the notion credibility that Mara had influence on supporting Jones all the years of their administration, and he doesn't want to hold it against them. The Boss also knows full well that further games of disaster with Jones behind Center will make for ugly scenes at the Meadowlands. Mara wants to win games, first and foremost. This is their chance to prove this team is close to being a winning team. If they go 0-7, I wouldn't bet on their future here. Although I do think they win the next two games.

Locke was paid 5Mil to be the backup QB and that is still what he will be.

I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

That undrafted guy is still the best QB on the team.

And that is a woeful place to be.

The wrong horse was backed, they are charged with winning games and the guy earning what, $1.1mil per year gives you a better chance to win than the "franchise" 40mil per year and his 5mil per year back-up.

Jesus. The optics on both of them are woeful.
