For those saying no vote of confidence from the HC is how it should be.  Can you cite any examples of QBs given the starter role on a game-by-game basis rather than be appointed the starter so they can relax a little (not worry that one bad game will cost them their job) and the player gets the boost by being named the starter moving forward which also gives him more clout with his teammates (the starter vs a place holder)

You are reading way too much into things.  He cannot come out and say he is starting the next 7 games.  He plays poorly, he will be replaced.  He plays well, he will continue to play.

I have thought about this situation.   In hindsight the AR signing seems absolutely silly.  You signed an overall the hill QB with questionable character.   Then you gave him management power he neither deserved, nor was qualified to wield.  Seems like a path to sure disaster.

Yet, at the time, few were dinging the Jets. The Jets had a talented roster, but their swing-miss on QB Zach Taylor (with the 2nd overall pick) seemed to be preventing the team from reaching its full potential. Everyone thought the Jets were copying the successful formula the Bucs used to win a Super Bowl with a 40-something Tom Brady.

Even at the end in Green Bay he wasn't the same Rodgers that was winning MVPs.  But I guess they felt they didn't need MVP Rodgers if they can just get 75% of that they'd be able to compete.  Sucks for them they got about 15% of that which is essentially wacky Zach Wilson.
