Remember Jared Goff? He flopped with the Rams.

I firmly believe there are many QB needy teams who will pick up or trade for Jones as a starter. He just needs a team with a good supporting cast and a good coach.

This team is a mess. Lousy coach, lousy offensive line, only one true WR weapon and a defense with more holes than you can count on one hand. No QB can play well with a lousy team and subpar coaching. This team is a train wreck and everyone points the finger at the QB .. it comes with the territory

Right, I get what your saying H-Town, but Mara has got to see what's going on at practice. I think it would be strange if he just let it go without "Meddling" if that was indeed his way of doing things.

Very classy statement by jones honest and very respectful of team and teammates.
First class. Wish him well moving forward with another team I am hoping it works out for him somewhere.

This about sums it up.

I too would like to start at QB for the Giants. But it isn't happening in this lifetime. That's a job that should be earned on the field. Jones hasn't earned anything over the last 6 years. He's been as much a part of the problem as anyone else. Actually he's more of a problem because of the position he plays and how lousy he is at his job.

Who are we kidding? The permanent benching of Daniel Jones is the best news we've gotten as Giants fans in about 3 years. Send him home, pay him for the last 7 weeks, and wish him good luck in the future. No one's going to just hand him a starting job any longer. He's reached the point in his career where he will have to earn whatever he gets.

Time to turn the page. As much as we all want a true franchise QB, the Giants can sign a journeyman QB for peanuts and get similarly poor QB play.

Remember, the Raiders sent Carr home after they benched him.

The idea of "meddling" isn't an all-or-nothing proposition. There levels and nuance. I firmly believe Mara's meddling is more in the form of undue influence.

It's like your wife saying, "You know honey, we could really use some flowers to brighten up the place."

She's indirectly telling you she wants flowers.

As the owner, Mara's statements have the same impact.

Should never of been drafted.  It was a bad decision failure from day one.

Except Carr was actually a decent qb and Gruden just disliked him.

That's just an honest question, like I said I'm not trying to get into any arguments.

I don't want get in a war words and I'm guilty of it so I'll key say this:

It's their answer to QB they never wanted.

Nobody is trading for Jones considering the deadline has passed.

Nobody is trading for someone that will absolutely be released.

Sheesh. Honestly? That's what you're holding onto, the 40 mil "franchise QB" might be back up somewhere. F**k me, has the bar slipped.

killarich

I know this would never happen

But what if when released he does not getting a starting spot on another team

Would you hate him being resigned to backup level qb contract to backup the new rookie QB ??

Goff played in a super bowl with the Rams. I wish Daniel Jones had flopped that badly.

But the Rams recognized that even though Goff had gotten them that far Stafford is better and could get them that super bowl win in this window.  Which he did.

They cut ties with a QB they drafted #2 overall and I think traded up to get because they recognized he wasn't the best guy for the job. Meanwhile the Giants were staring at objectively lousy QB play for 5.5 years before mustering up the courage to move on. The Giants are certainly a mess but not for the reason you seem to think they are.

Only if ignore his 2 pro bowls and NFC championship win.  That's hardly "flopping."
