It's very difficult to describe a character in a factual manner.

For example, I can't factually say DJ is the hardest worker on the team

I could point to a fact, such as he is the first player in the facility and the last to leave, to support my opinion about DJ's work ethic.
If his character is described by any and everyone asked in the exact same manner, then it isn't difficult to say it's a fact.

Again, your dispute is not about the points I made, rather how I categorized them.

File this one under "agree to disagree" as well.  :ok:

Giants cut a QB everyone said was bad, so why are they being hated on for doing this and cutting bait? If you go on reddit, Giants fans are having a parade right now. Same thing with the Saquon situation. We were laughed at for even drafting him, we would have been laughed at for giving a RB money if we re-signed him. Now it's "how dare they let him go". Same with Jones now "how dare they treat him like this", dude should have been cut sooner.

Good move by both parties and I expected it. Just by being in the building, he can be a distraction even though it would never be DJs intent. Now he can clear waivers and either sign a limited deal, which I doubt or wait for the offers next season.

Why would he want to sign a vet minimum contract and risk injury elsewhere? Now, if the Bills wanted him with a chance to get a ring and backup Allen, he might think about a situation like that. It's very possible that the Giants are considered a dumpster fire by some GM out there and may think he can be salvaged into a starter next year. Ok, humor me.

Tim,

I asked my dear friend AI to expound on what a fact is since it's a critical basis for discussion.  I appreciate your right to believe otherwise, but in all my discussions, I always keep the difference between fact, opinion, and belief in mind.  It's foundational to my thought process at this point in my life.

A fact is a statement or piece of information that can be proven to be true or false based on objective evidence, reality, or observation. Facts are independent of beliefs, opinions, or interpretations and remain consistent regardless of who observes them, provided the evidence supports the claim.

Key Characteristics of a Fact:

Verifiable: It can be confirmed or disproven using evidence, such as scientific data, documentation, or observation.

Example: "Water boils at 100°C at sea level."
Objective: A fact is not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or opinions.
Example: "The Earth orbits the Sun."

Universally True: If proven true, it remains true regardless of context or perspective (barring changes in the conditions under which it applies).

Example: "Humans have 46 chromosomes."

Difference Between a Fact and an Opinion:

A fact is evidence-based and objective.
"There are 7 continents on Earth."

An opinion is subjective and reflects personal beliefs or preferences.
"Asia is the most interesting continent."

Why Facts Matter:
Facts form the foundation of knowledge and enable informed decision-making, reasoning, and debate. They help distinguish what is real from what is imagined or speculative.

Your views are duly noted.  Thank you for chiming in.  Sorry if my thoughts, opinions, and beliefs offend you or annoy you.

For what it's worth, I share this so that people can appreciate where I am coming from, and perhaps there can be less friction, but clearly, you don't feel that way, which disappoints me.  It certainly wasn't an effort to be condescending.   In my opinion, if you understand where someone else is really coming from than exchanges are often more civil and fun.

Would you like me to stop posting forever?  Would that make you happy?

Quote from: LennG on November 22, 2024, 03:31:13 PMYou know I can see a team like the Vikings picking him up. JJ is going to be their starter but they have Cousins on a huge salary. Jones could be the perfect backup for JJ and gives them the option to release Cousins.

I'm confused isn't cousins on the falcons

Why is the buzz that Jones should sign with Dallas to make the Thanksgiving game worth watching? Yes this is a thing.

1. Dallas is spiraling so if they are going to give snaps to a new QB it will Trey Lance.
2. Even if they signed Jones tomorrow he wouldn't know enough of the playbook to play in 5 days.
3. Who cares? Who would watch this game to see Jones vs Cutlets outside of NY and Dallas?

I think Jones is Miami bound.

How do you think that will go over with Beckham, Waddle and Hill?

Awesome. The drop off from Tua to the backups was so steep it has nearly tanked their season. They would welcome a solid backup.

Over the Cap does an analysis.  It's not really an in-the-weeds breakdown of the cap ramifications but more an assessment of the contract and decisions from a salary cap perspective.  For what it's worth, I researched termination pay.  Unless DJ waived his right to termination pay as a condition of his release (I believe this to be a real possibility), the Giants will receive no offsets (salary cap relief in the amount DJ makes with another team) should DJ clear waivers and sign with another team.

Don't be ridiculous.  I have always expressed appreciation for the good things you bring to the board. But did we really need YET ANOTHER screed about facts, opinion, and beliefs as if we were children?  Because we are too stupid to see where you are coming from without you 'schooling' us?  And it's not the first time.  Like I said, it is tedious.  And apparently, others agree with me.

FWIW, this is not a fact, it is a combination of definition and common acceptance.
