Excellent post Rich.

And let us not forget "washed up" Everson Walls.

He wound up starting and was a force in our D backfield.

Thank you Cowboys :)

Johnie Cooks was instrumental in filling in for Carl Banks after the latter had fractured his forearm and tried to "man up" by playing the Redskins in RFK with a cast on it. He ended up injuring it further and set himself back which put him out for a chunk of the regular season. Cooks started the next week against his old team, the Colts, whom he had some bad blood with Ron Meyers for the way he was let go. The Giants' Defense crumbled Jeff George, Eric Dickerson and company in a lopsided 24-7 MNF victory. His contributions the rest of that season helped the Giants make it to the top of the hill.

He was a fine Giant LB from 1988-90 and will be missed.

RIP Johnie.

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)
