Quote from: coggs on November 25, 2024, 10:45:05 AMSeriously.  As time goes on some will swear he was on the cusp of taking them to the Super Bowl.

Are you talking about Joe Schoen and his bye-week presser?

No, I can actually stay on thread-topic.  This one is about Jones.

Is the topic putting words in other people's mouths?  ;)

if you follow the flow of the post I was quoting, you should be able to figure it out.  From the wording, you should be able to figure out that I was speculating.  At no time did I say, "MG said Jones had the Giants on the cusp of the Super Bowl...."

What exactly is the value of such wild speculation?    Correct me if I am wrong, but the intention seems to be to put others down for things they didn't even say.

As much value as most of the posts on here and revisionist history often comes into play down the road.  No different than people who yearn for society to go back what it used to be while ignoring the problems society had back then.

Yeah, both quarterbacks are not very good at being the quarterback for the New York Giants.

Yes, there are myriad other issues that contribute to the ineffective play at the position but that does not mean either quarterback are/were good enough.

That is true, but it does put into question some people's claims that they are absolutely right about Daniel Jones.   Look, I had to endure a lot of "I told you so," "I was validated," and "You should eat crow" over the past week or so.  I will confess it made me feel better to see that my claims about Schoen and Daboll and the state of the overall team were shown to be pretty accurate.   I am not saying I am validated or that anyone else is wrong; I am just saying things were not as one-sided as they appeared.

I would even go so far as to suggest that the final chapter of Daniel Jones may not have been written.  He may join the growing list of Giants who did better once they left this broken team.

So Jones and DeVito can both be not very good at all, who would have thought it? It seems like some can't comprehend that.

They do have other issues I agree. Barnes and his cohorts need to somehow, someway find their way out.

If they are feeling like making a splash in FA, I would try to sign Trey Smith, huge upgrade over GVR, and adds a high level player to that side of the line.

If that's what you need, Rich. I'm glad you found it.

Personally, - and I'm absolutely stating my personal belief - is that many posters had to endure the converse of what you're feeling 18 months ago and they are now feeling vindicated/correct/right.

I'm pleased the Giants moved on, I thought it was right (but a difficult call to make) 2 years ago but you and I have been in that long grass for a very, very long time and there's no need for us to venture back.

I'll tell you something for nothing - the one I am sure we agree on is the fact we are both sick and tired of being p1ssed off with our team by 6.30 (1.30 ET) on a Sunday evening! These frustrations come out in a variety of ways.

I will offer up this analogy:

We were arguing over which was more important:  The bedroom was on fire, or the kitchen was on fire, while what was more important was that the house we were in was on fire.   ;)

Yup, pretty much spot on.

Assuming he cleared waivers.  Are the other teams knocking on his door eager to sign him?
