They have to draft Travis Hunter.  No way they can pass in that kind of talent because they are desperate for a QB.  No QB in this class is remotely as talented as of today.  The kid has no outside interests other than conditioning and taking care of his body.  His football instincts are top 1%.  He simply knows how to react as a defender and offensive player when the ball is in the air.

Draft him and he becomes our #1 CB and our #1 WR (worse case #2 WR).  Get a QB elsewhere.

I love Travis Hunter but I only agree with this if they're not extremely high on any QB. If they're not, then I agree. If they love Shedeur (or someone else), they should not pass on drafting a QB they love in the situation they're in.

Again, I'm all for deferring drafting a QB to a future season if they are not that high on any of them this year. But no way you defer if you are.

Hunter is a phenomenal talent, but as we have witnessed with Nabors this year, unless you have someone to get him the ball, that talent doesn't amount to much. Certainly not wins.

Barring a change, this is the debate to be had.  I will add, that all hope is not lost.  Last year this time, Jayden Daniels was still being mocked to the bottom half of round one.  There is still time for a QB prospect to step up and really shine and boost their stock.

The Giants simply cannot be so desperate that they see past genuine concerns of a prospect at QB.  I agree they can't win if a QB can't get Nabers the ball but many college QB prospects won't be able to get Nabers the ball in the NFL.

Need creates bias and it is not limited to college football prospects' scouting.  Schoen et al got it right with Nabers but missed a bit on Banks and Thibs and really missed on Neal.  Are you sure you trust him and his team plus coaches on a QB prospect when it is plain as day that Travis Hunter oozes so much talent and instinct that they should grab him?  Want to emulate the success of the Eagles and their recent drafts?  Get the BPA.

Do you believe Hunter will continue to be a two-way player in the NFL?  If not, which position is his primary position in the NFL?  At that position how does he stack up against the best in the NFL at that position?  If Hunter continues to be a two-way player, does he ever play every snap?  How does he stack up as a CB vs NFL and as a WR vs the NFL?

If Hunter is that good and valued and the Giants have the #1 pick and no QB they like... I'd look to trade.

The challenge is that, outside of QB prospects, not many teams are willing to pay the price to move up to the first pick.

I disagree about getting it right on Nabers. Yes he has unlimited potential but looking back now, and how I felt on draft day, the Giants should have drafted McCarthy or Penix or Nix. I wrote of 2024 before the draft but if they had their QB of the future then 2025 and beyond would look brighter. Now they are much more desperate for a QB when they are even scarcer. If they had a QB then Hunter would be there for them. Receivers are found much more easily than QBs.

Kat,

I think you quoted the wrong person; it was @Philosophers that mentioned Nabers.

That's why I said "valued." I'm not positive he (or another non-QB) will be so coveted that the Giants get a haul. If they are, it has to be considered. We're so far from the draft there's a lot that could change, so I'm purely dealing in hypotheticals.

I think the closest comparison to Hunter is the baseball player Ohtani.  Fantastic pitcher and hitter.  He has to play both.  Hunter should do the same if the coaches like what he brings to both. He is playing nearly every play.  His endurance is great.  He has been a top well conditioned athlete his whole life.

"So far" I'd say we missed ALOT on Banks and Thibs.

Giantleap56

I'm taking Hunter with the number one pick. Two way athlete you take that everyday. The Giants can always pick a QB in second round and the drop off will be insignificant.

With the alarming hit and miss rates with QBs, if Hunter is avaliable, i say select him...he's an amazing talent.

If they have a conviction on a qb, then that's a major consideration too. But I love Hunter..he's special..huge impact potential

Remember, we had a terrific 80's LB core, yet took LT because he was so awesome, then Banks later down the road. Outstanding results.

The rest is history.
