I suspect the players were on the fence with all his bye-week decisions (like benching DJ and skipping Drew for DeVito).  How those decisions played out was key to holding or losing the locker room

There was a lot of distraction this week. Not prepared and their heart isnt in it. I don't think he survives.

Good riddance. When will owners learn the genius in NE was Bill Belichek. Everyone else was riding his coattails. He and Schoen haven't improved this team measurably in three years. Both have failed for whatever reason. Since we can't fire Mara they have to go.

I don't think the players mind the benching of Jones, outside of his close friends.

I suspect they'd have an issue with passing over Lock.

I've never thought Dabs was in trouble. But I could easily see him fired tomorrow.

Its a short week.

I was listening to Pat Leonard this morning while cleaning leaves.  Pat's point is that players are fine with decisions that help a team win games.  When it's not clear that is the case, or worse, it's not the case, you lose the players.  At this point, it's fair to say DeVito has looked worse than DJ.  Remember, the Bucs are not a good defense; they are ranked near the bottom of the league.

The turning point was the idiotic decision to go for it on 4th down from their own 36

I was wondering if those that thought Daboll was safe have changed their mind now.  I thought it would be the Saints game in a few weeks, but this team doesn't have a pulse.  It's probably not going to get better as the losses pile up.

EDjohnst1981

Yes. DeVito has looked worse.

That's not a surprise.

Jones had 70 games. This is Devito's 7th start.

Jones was drafted 6th, six years ago. DeVito was undrafted 2 years ago.

There's no point in comparing the two.

I am a big proponent of risk vs reward.  Going for it on your side of the 50 at that point of the game didn't make sense.  I appreciate that your offense is struggling and that you are looking for a spark, but failure helps the Bucs get the sort of comfortable lead that tends to win games.

Tommy had no chance in the first half. That was on Daboll.

Ed,

The comparison (from the player's perspective) is who helps them win games.  That is what the players are comparing: who is Daboll staring at QB, and is he helping or hurting our chance to win?

I could see Daniel Jones sitting in his easy chair, beer in hand, watching the game and seeing this comment on his phone and saying-  "tell me about it"  :D
