To be fair, that's not what you expressed in the prior comment. I can certainly get on board with this sentiment, however.

So you wouldn't want Andy Reid?

Why do people think the results of these games actually matter?  After that debacle against Carolina, they pretty much accepted the chances of winning a game the rest of the way are slim and none.

In all seriousness, there is not a coach on the planet that could have this team in play-off contention with the QBs with which they have had work this season.

Quote from: katkavage on December 08, 2024, 08:44:05 PMNow you are being silly (kind). Stop.

So you don't mean what you say (type)?  You literally said it's time for a def coach and you just want a coach who doesn't call plays/focus on one side of the ball. Again, you literally defined the opposite of Andy Reid.  Hence my sarcastic question.  The entire premise is a little silly.  As H already stated, if you desire a HC, you take the best one available...

You know what I mean, but you want to play little games here. So you mention a Hall of Fame coach who never would be available to the Giants. I mean the Giants need a true HEAD coach. Not a faux QB guru whose teams are unprepared and undisciplined who doesn't know how to assemble a competent staff and despite his reputation can't develop or even marginally improve average  QBs. Not to mention the play calling that's one of the worst if not the worst in the NFL.

Daboll is not perfect, and certainly is not doing himself too many favors, whether he can help it or not

But, what the hell do people expect him to say during these pressers, its the same outcome every week, more injuries etc, there really isn't much for him, or anyone to say that is going to be super meaningful.

What coach has survived this over 3 seasons

17-29-1

Materially declining season record each year

QB play which has worsened each year

An offense that's worsened each year

Loss of one and demotion of another

No material player development

Hue Jackson went 1-31 with Cleveland and got a 3rd season.

That's judging a book by its cover. If we use the Five Whys method to analyze each of those, we can narrow down the root of the problem.

Daboll has the 4th worst winning percentage in Giants history (5th if you count the handful of games interim HC Spags coached).

The only ones with a worse record than Daboll:

Joe Judge
Pat Shurmur
Bill Arnsparger

It's interesting that 3 of the 4 "worst" Giants coaches all had Daniel Jones as their QB.

I think Judge and Shurmur both were awful hires, but could not help but notice that.

Not sure where you are going.  If you are blaming Daniel Jones, Brian Daboll was supposed to be the "QB Whisperer" for developing QBs.  Not only did he not develop DJ, he didn't develop Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito.  Daboll was supposed to be an offensive mastermind.  Nothing has happened on any of that front.

If you are blaming Mara, I get poor ownership but at the end of the day, it falls on the coach in terms of wins and losses.

The whole argument that a coach needs to get his own QB is true ONLY IF a prior drafted QB and the HC cannot work together.  By all accounts, Jones and Daboll worked great together in terms of relationship.

It falls on Daboll.  Schoen goes too.
