It was a uniformly applauded move. He was coming off an insane season and the team had been starved for a high end, foundational O lineman for a good decade plus.

I didn't voice it at the time, but I did get a pit in my stomach when reporters asked him what the contract meant to him, and Thomas said he appreciated the security, especially in light of his history of ankle injuries.

Fair enough, but as a Giants fan, given our track record of keeping players healthy, I do that with basically every player of any relevance.

For what it's worth, I tend to think of this more as a Ronnie Barnes issue than a Joe Schoen issue

I like the Trey Smith signing to shore up Guard but we have major problems at both tackle positions.  Thomas cant stay healthy which means Neals gets into the lineup and disaster strikes.

If Giants do not draft a QB early in round 1 (I am 100% ok with that) then we have to consider an OT either in beginning of round 1 or somewhere upto round 3.  I like Walter Nolan in round 2 so happy to land an OT after that but we have to draft one by round 3.
I signed Walker Little as the swing to Thomas and Eleumenor.

Jolly: I'll make a prediction... if the Giants pick first, they will not take a QB because none (as of today) are worth the first overall pick of an NFL draft. IMO, there is at least one player (maybe more - we'll have to wait and see) as of right now who ARE INDEED worth being taken first. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Wow then you must hate just about every extension this team has given out because any player would say this and most players do have an injury history. So what's the plan? Just let every play leave after 4-5? How is that work out for the Giants?

The Bob, who plays QB for this team next year? Let's hear it.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on November 29, 2024, 06:39:12 PMPatrick Mahomes is the only QB drafted since 2013 that has won a Super Bowl.

So maybe it's overrated.

I think over 30 have been drafted in that time.

this may be so, but how many teams, who HAVE drafted QB's very early have been competitive since then, They may not have gotten to the Big Dance as of yet, mostly because Mahones and Brady have dominated, but the other teams, many of them, are right there and are a competitive team year in and year out.
Wouldn't that be nice for a while?

Lenn: Too early to tell who might be available (and for what reason) during the off-season, but assuming they don't or can't get a veteran cast-off, they'll draft a QB in the second round. There will be plenty of guys worth a high 2nd round pick (or trade up to the bottom of the first round, as Baltimore did - I seem to recall - to get their franchise QB). Bob

Thoughts on? Rourke, Howard, Allar, McCord, and Nussmeier?

There are going to be teams clamoring for Hunter and Sanders.

We should trade down, stockpile picks, stay in the top and take the best available. If that happens to be Ward so be it.

We are still in REBUILD we cannot forget that.
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Donny,

I appreciate and agree with your point.   I guess what disturbed me is he said the silent part out loud and mentioned a specific medical issue
