Quote from: uconnjack8 on December 01, 2024, 08:50:13 AMI didn't realize until much later that police used pepper spray to break up the fighting after Ohio St - Michigan  Not sure I have heard of that in college sports.

A lot of questions for the leadership of both programs.  And really not sure what rules are about celebrating after victories but we have seen other incidents with flag planting and the like, and it may be time for some strict specific rules for that type of behavior.

Really a great performance by Michigan after a down year.

On another note, was warming up to Ewers last night until the INT and the fumble.  He has the physical tools.

He fumbled more than once but got lucky until the turnover. It's a shame because he threw the ball as well or better than anyone yesterday. Especially the deep ones. It gives me pause. McCord's stock rose yesterday beating Ward and Miami. He's really come on strong of late. He might be my late first early second choice but I'm very interested in seeing Allar in the big ten championship against that Oregon pass rush.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Ed, was really impressed with his arm yesterday.  Had watched him previously and hadn't felt as strongly about it.  Can the fumbling be coached out of him? Or is some of it pocket presence issues?

Didn't see any of the Miami game.

That's the big question. I wonder what his hand size is. I got flashbacks of DJ getting rattled by pressure, which is what happened to Ewers yesterday. Let's see how he does this week against Georgia and if there is any improvement from the earlier loss this season.

Penn St. QBs baffle me partly because of James Franklin.  He coaches poorly in the big games which is when I want to see his QBs play big.  As a result it lessens my love of their QBs.

This planting the flag stuff on a opponents field trend maybe started with Baker Mayfield?

I'm all for it on the Cowboys or Eagles field anytime for us. We can only hope. That would mean a sea change in our fortunes.

Kudos to TO for spiking the Cowboy star back in the day! I wish we had that kind of fire for our heroes.

Personally, I would never want to see the Giants behave that way. Winning is more than enough for me. Being deliberately disrespectful, being a sore winner, and rubbing it in is a low class, trashy move.

It's all moot, because we're not going to be in a position to do it anytime soon anyway.

McCord, dumped by the Buckeyes essentially, has improved. But that being said, UM is a coaching mess and huge breakdowns on defense in the second half. Hurricanes always stub their beak at peak time.

Dave,

I don't care if we offend them. They and their bases have been "stickin" us for years. I appreciate your classy take though. I am acting out in frustration, no doubt.

Yes he definitely clenches up in big games.  Last week at Minnesota he did the opposite late and the reaction all my buddies and I had was "where is this against OSU???".  Maybe we'll see more of it against Oregon.

In regards to Drew Allar- I've watched a lot of this kid and he's definitely made progress this year.  It's a weird situation, though, because honestly our wideouts are just barely above trash level.  It's tough for us to push the ball down the field consistently as a result.  I think Drew still has some room to grow and my gut says that he sticks around PSU for another year.  That may not be a wise decision unless we get some better WR play (especially since his current safety blanket Tyler Warren will be off to star at the next level next year).

It strikes me as the opposite of the Christian Hackenberg situation a few years back.  Big, strong kid like Allar who was absolutely NOT the answer in the NFL but was consistently bailed out by Chris Godwin, who I still think is one of the best WRs ever to come out of Penn State.  Godwin masked Hackenberg's significant liabilities....  and I wonder if Allar may actually project better than his current play because of the lack of any decent wideouts.

I totally get it. I'm sure in the heat of the moment if I saw the Giants plant a flag in the center of the Eagles' field after a dominating win there, part of me would love it for a short period of time.

I agree it is tough to eval a QB with poor WRs.  At Michigan we have no QB and no WRs.

I hope we dont force a QB pick out of desperation if no real talent in s there.  So many better players at other positions.

If Schoen and Daboll are kept, you know they'll take a QB as they'll be hanging by a thread and need the most upside they can get.

That's where the owner may need to be involved to look at long term interest of team over lottery ticket gamble to save 2 jobs.

Isn't the owner already too involved?

So who is going to look out for the Giants beyond a year if their GM and HC are working to survive the year?
