Another problem if the regime (especially Daboll) stays knowing he will be on the hottest of hot seats next year, how can he attract quality assistants. No one will come to work for the Giants knowing he most likely will get canned in a year. Bowen has to go but there would be no good candidate in their right mind who would take that job potentially just for a year. It makes no sense to keep Daboll.

Why are you assuming it would/could only be for a year? Maybe the team will have a lot of success and that DC or whoever might be part of that and become the next 'hot' guy.
Come on, you are just assuming that the Giants will be crap next year also. If I am a guy, hungry to prove I can be a good coordinator, I would take any job available to prove my worth.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Lenn you and I have been down this road before.  What have you seen from this coach that instills confidence? They are ill prepared. The play calling is atrocious. They seem not to be motivated. And since the second half of his first season have one of the worst, if not the worst record in the NFL. What does he do well? Where have you seen the Giants respond to him? The QB was a huge issue for sure but I think we know now that Josh Allen made Brian Daboll, not the other way around. And no, no quality assistant will uproot his family and take the chance that a coach on a very hot seat will be around for more than a year.

Quote from: coggs on December 02, 2024, 06:38:14 PMDo you really trust John Mara is actually going to hire the right guy?  Reese benefitted from EA's work and it was time for him to do it, he sucked. Then Mara hired Gettleman and now Schoen, who you obviously do not like.  EA was hired by Wellington.  4 times a charm here?  What GM candidate is going to want to deal with the "Giants Way" and hierarchy system?  Who is going to want to inherit this awful scouting staff and deal with Chris Mara?  Only person who would come here is someone who is looking for a GM title that knows nobody else will hire them.

one problem with Giants that is Becoming a larger issue for them moving forward is ...Free Agents are watching or at least their agents are watching this crap show at Mara tech...namely the way Jones was handled the release of players not willing to restructure contract, locker room rumblings, not to mention the higher state and local taxes that eats away at after taxes money, the release of several very good players etc. Barkley , Mckinney and so on.
"hard Knocks" ????
good FA's may stay away from current losing trend  with the Giants .... a new coaching staff at the very least may help ,,, not a new guy ... but an experienced head coach with a good record with another team.. Vrabel for example may change their opinion. ... I know many will say money talks ...that is true but only for older players not being resigned by their current team.

I partly disagree.  #1 all teams cut players mid-contract.  It is the business and how the CBA is structured.  When people say, "They gave Jones $40MM per year.." it shows they do not understand NFL contracts.  The guaranteed money is what they are looking for and that is with all teams.  State and local taxes? They all pay a jock tax.  And, if you think a player for the C*wb*ys is living in some middle class neighborhood?  Nope, they are all living in more expensive neighborhoods, so trying to use a cost of living estimate for the entire D*ll*s metro area is not a realistic view of things.  As I said yesterday, these guys have money people who know how to save on taxes.
