'Cuse quarterback Kyle McCord is being recognized nationally for his performance in Syracuse's upset of No. 8 Miami. McCord is the Associated Press (AP) Player of the Week and a member of the Davey O'Brien Great 8.

McCord was 26-of-36 for 380 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Orange back from a 21-0 deficit for the largest comeback in program history. It marked his 11th 300-yard passing performance of the season, which is a school record.

His three touchdown passes give him 29 this season, which is also a single-season school record. McCord increased his season passing total to 4,326 yards, making him the first 'Cuse quarterback to throw for more than 4,000 yards in a season. He leads the nation in passing yards, passing yards per game (360.5) and completions per game (30.58).

McCord and the Orange are awaiting Bowl Selection for the third-straight year.'

He is a good option outside of R1, but if Daboll and Schoen are staying making the pick, I am not sure I see them drafting him since he doesn't seem to offer much with his legs, which Daboll usually prefers.

Yes, he's a player to draft up from the second round or down from the first if the Giants stay the course. He's a player that could rise by draft day. But you're spot on that he's no threat with his legs.

Stringer Bell

My son is an Ohio St. fan - plus we live somewhat near Syracuse - so I've seen plenty of McCord.

While there are worse lottery ticket-types in rounds 4 and below, I am not all that high on McCord and would certainly not be interested in him on Day 2.

He's basically the opposite of Sanders. While McCord does a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly (while Sanders does not), he's not all that accurate in putting the ball where he needs to. He's well known for putting his WRs in difficult spots to make their catches - a trait we've come to know all too well these last 6 years and not one I think we want to see more of.

And it's the type of trait that is made far worse in the NFL, where pass windows are much tighter.

No thanks on McCord.  Does not move the needle at all for me.

Watched a lot of McCord this year.  I really like him, think he can eventually start in the NFL.

Why?  He goes through his reads quickly and gets rid of the ball.  Rarely got sacked working behind an average-at-best OL.

And he was right on the money with his throws.  Saw little of the inaccuracy that Stringer Bell referenced.  Quite the opposite, in fact. Plus, he was a real team leader this year.

What you failed to point out about McCord's last game, was that it was  SU vs Miami...aka, McCord vs. Cam Ward. And to be honest, Cam had superior players to help fuel his offense

The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

Seriously, that goes without saying. But I think I did in another thread on Saturday.

I'm a NO on McCord.

He had the starting job at arguably the most talented program in the Nation, OSU.

He couldn't take the scrutiny at OSU so he walked away from a perennial title contender for at best a top twenty five program.

If he can't handle Columbus, OH, how can we expect him to handle NY?
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

He went 11-1 with the Buckeyes. Day dicked him around and wound up with Will Howard. His loss.

Day wanted him back as the starter, he didn't want to come back.

He's on record as not wanting to commit to him as a starter.

"But, perhaps, the most important decision Day made was jettisoning Kyle McCord, last year's starting quarterback, in the favor of a transfer portal option that turned out to be Kansas State QB Will Howard."
