Quote from: Gmo11 on December 31, 2024, 04:03:18 PMHave seen a lot of that around here recently, he'll fit right in!

To be fair it was just one game.  A poor game but one game nonetheless.  His potential is high...but his floor is low.  It's all projection.  He could turn out to be similar to Lamar Jackson with a couple years of development.  Or he could stink out loud.  It's just too early in his development to know for sure.  I wouldn't have considered him at #1 when there were two better options but since that ship has sailed I would consider him later in the 1st round or 2nd round if he's still around.  Athletes like him are rare.  He just needs to learn how to play the position.
Good luck in the Pick 'em. You put up a great challenge up to this last week!

4,250 passing yards 29 Tds 6 Int (3 came in the final minutes trying to win at florida) plus 500 rushing yards and 3 Tds.

1 of only 4 Qbs ever to throw for 12,000 yards in the SEC.

If you haven't seen it watch the 51 yard bomb Dart throws rolling out of the pocket and across his body, it was lethal.

Also played until the final 2-3 snaps.

He seems gritty and can make throws. Daboll
schemed guys open, our QB just couldn't hit them, didn't hit spots or, to be fair, was leveled due to a leaky O-line. Worth a shot, seems like a guy we'd like.

I want a guy who is naturally aggressive and trusts his ability to make tight window throws downfield.  I dont know yet if that is Dart.

Watched some of Darts game last night. I like him. Needs work but has the basics and more to work with.
Trade down and get another 1 and high two and take a chance on Dart when it makes sense

I haven't watched as much of Dart as I did Sanders/Ward because I, like an idiot, assumed the Giants would do the right thing these last two weeks.  Since they are as stupid as I am, it's time to pivot.

I did watch the bowl game and Dart was pretty impressive in that game.  One thing I do like is that he also runs the ball a lot.  Probably more often and with more success than either Ward or Sanders.  In the NFL today a pure pocket passer needs to be elite in order to succeed.  Being able to scramble around or run straight QB plays helps if you're not the top of the top of NFL QBs.

If he can take Daniel Jones' rushing ability and just add the ability and willingness really to throw passes down field he could work.

After the Giants stupidly win on Sunday I probably wouldn't want to take him at 9 or 10 because they are likely to be able to find somebody at a different position that's a much better prospect but if they trade down as was suggested and happen to find a willing trade partner I wouldn't be furious with Dart being the guy.

And even though it's ridiculous...the worst QB the Giants have ever drafted came from Duke, then they drafted another with similar results.  The BEST QB the Giants have ever drafted (sorta) came from Ole Miss...sooooooo?  (Leave me alone I need something to grasp at this team is a dumpster fire in the middle of a train wreck!)

I'm officially moving Dart above Sanders and moving Milroe into third slot.
1. Ward
2. Dart
3. Milroe
4. Sanders

Reasoning behind this, Sanders doesn't have pocket presence, non rushing QB averaging negative yards the last two year rushing . Sacked 92 times in two years it won't get easier in NFL.  Honestly speaking if he wasn't Deion's kid he would be a third or fourth round pick.

Dart is slightly less of a passer than Ward and slightly less of a rusher that Milroe. Which puts him in second QB overall.

Milroe is the best rushing QB in the draft. But not as good a passer as Ward,Dart and Sanders. Potential is good but his upside and down side is scary. I think another year in College might remove his passing doubts.

Ward is the best QB in the draft passing is good can get out of the pocket when needed.

I watched the game last night and several of his throws were very good in hitting the receiver in stride. There were, however, a few the cameras caught with the up-close lens on the receiver catching his passes where the receiver had to adjust in stride to include one of his TD throws. It may be nothing, or it will require refining when he takes the leap into the NFL.

Still, good performance and it will be interesting to see if he climbs up as a day one pick.

Peace!

I think he will go in the first round; his stock will rise. He has talent for sure. Me? I wouldn't be mad if we took him in the 1st. Get Andy Dalton or Jamis Winston to run the offense until the Giants feel Dart is ready.

He's a second round project....with potential..the deadly career ending term.

Picking the wrong QB is a death sentence for any GM. I would take Dart over Milroe, Beck, and Saunders.

The last time the Giants took a QB from Ole Miss it worked out pretty well.

Charlie Connerly was also from Ole Miss.
