On Tuesday, Ole Miss announced that Dart was named as the Conerly Trophy Winner.

The Conerly Trophy Award is given to the top college football player in the state of Mississippi. The other finalists were Jackson State running back Irv Mulligan and Mississippi State safety Isaac Smith.

Dart was also a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, an annual recognition of top senior/upperclassmen quarterback. Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders won the award.

It was a terrific season for Dart, who finished 2024 with 3,875 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

Dart now has 10,213 yards, etching his name into the Ole Miss history books. Dart also is the winningest quarterback in Ole Miss program history and he set the record for most total offense in a single game by an Ole Miss player in Week 10 against Arkansas.

Couple of things:

My pick this year if he came out would be Penn State Drew Allar in the 2nd round. My next guy would be Dart

Like the guy in the video said, Dart is not a day one starter. IMO aside from Ewers and Saunders, NO QB in the rest of the draft are day one starters. That fact shouldn't deter the Giants from looking at day 2 QBs. Where we are at, I am cool with trading back to acquire more draft picks or just getting the best player available in round 1, then getting a QB in round 2.

We need a bridge QB and someone like Jamius Winston would be perfect.

I agree with those that say in Dart you will get either Will Levis or Josh Allen. I would take that gamble.

Almost every pass is to a very wide open WR thanks to Kiffin's ability to scheme open his WRs.  I see nothing to tell me he can make tight window throws.  That's my question about him.

Very true he's a hard quarterback to scout. Yes his team played some really good teams., but they also played a lot of teams that were very soft. Is that his fault? In truth, there's a lot of same comparisons with him and Bo Nix...... sometimes they said soft competition...... sometimes they said it's a system quarterback. Truthfully, we never know.... I'm willing to gamble a second round pick on Dart. At this point, everything's better than Daniel Jones and if he becomes a Josh Allen, we won the lottery.... If he becomes a Will Levis ? at least we have a cheap second string quarterback.

I haven't seen much if him, but what I saw if Dart I liked. I wouldn't mind seeing him in blue.

Allard had a good game today against Oregon but he should stay at Penn Stte for his senior year and polish his skills more. If Arch Manning decides to stay in school another year aftrer next season Allard could be the first QB drafted

Bo Nix showed the benefit of experience at the college level before moving up. Gabriel too was very polished and it helped Oregon.

Looking at stats and measures, one QB prospect that keeps popping up is Dart.  He comes from the Lane Kiffin system that doesn't put much mental work on a QB, but he has all the tools and there is no reason to believe he doesn't have the mental capabilities (obviously this would have to be vetted and as mentioned an all-star game would help)

7. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 225 pounds
Class: Senior | Projected range: Late Day 2, early Day 3

Where he excels: Dart began his college career at USC in 2021 before transferring to Ole Miss, where he has started the past three seasons in Lane Kiffin's up-tempo offense. He has thrown for 3,875 yards with 25 touchdowns to 6 interceptions this season, and his completion percentage is 68.6%, improving in that statistic for the fourth straight season.

Dart is an explosive thrower with the arm strength to attack all parts of the field and stretch the ball vertically, as his 11.5 air yards per attempt ranks third in the FBS. He also can get the ball out quickly with perimeter passes and couples touch with his arm strength; his 80.4% catchable ball rate ranks 10th.

Where he needs work: Scouts have concerns about how much Kiffin's offense prepares quarterbacks for the NFL. Kiffin knows how to scheme receivers open, with 33.6% of Dart's passes this season being labeled as wide-open attempts (11th in the FBS).

"Passers in that offense are always hard to project because everything's so open," an area scout for an NFC team said. "I think he has a nice arm, but there's hardly any progressions, and Lane's scheming guys open so well, so he's one of those guys you'd want to see at an all-star game to see if he's capable of running a pro offense."

Ric and I liked him but the shine wore off for me by the end of the season. He's still a solid prospect.

I forget which game it was but I watched him choke massively in an absolutely huge spot. I know it's not fair to judge him only on that, but it kind of turned me off.

I'd be willing to reconsider him after the season when I start doing my deep dives again, but even before I watched him come up small in a huge spot he never really popped off the screen for me.

Rich: Yes, almost any top 10 percent college QB can thrive in the NFL if he's on the right team with the right coaches and right TYPES of supporting cast. I see Brock Purdy as a possible example. All the stars aligned for that kid and to his credit, he took FULL advantage of the lightning-strike. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

I posted this previously but the elephant in the room is Jalen Milroe . With a little seasoning , sitting behind a veteran, Joe Flaco, Ryan Tannerhill, Mariatta etc.  and an excellent OC or QB coach, Davis Webb, he could be the best of the lot. He has the most potential of any of the QBS this year .

spiderblue43

Of him (Dart), I only intensely watched one (vs. Florida) in a playoff win, you're in game, and he really had a meltdown late with bad balls. His numbers in the SEC are impressive, though. I respect that. 2nd round grade?

I suspect that Milroe will be a first-round pick (likely top half or round one)
