[Assume that the Giants see a QB they really want and they're dead certain he's worth Pick One]

If we have Pick Two or Three in the draft, I am convinced we should trade up to Pick One.

It's highly unlikely the team will see two QB's whom they believe are worth Pick Two and whom they are willing to "have" play for the Giants. (never mind why I say that, but I don't think they will want "Deion's scion" lol).

Who disagrees with me?

Bob

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Bob,

It depends on who gets the first spot. If it's a team that doesn't need a QB, I would say no trade.

If the Raiduhs are at #2 and we are #3 and Daboll wants Sanders, then yes, trade up.

It depends who they like

If they like Ward, Milroe, Dart or whoever, but Raiders take Sanders, for example, stay put.

Tim: That is logical, but if a team that doesn't need a QB has the top spot they can trade it. The question is whether the Giants might be willing to "settle" for the guy left over after a team ahead of them drafts a QB. I worry about it because I well remember the Peyton Manning & Ryan Leaf draft. The bottom line: the higher the pick the more pressure will be on the team, and not just for the reason I posed. Bob

Yes, that would be the gamble scenario.

If the Giants see a QB that they really like isnt the ONLY scenario is to trade to #1 (if we are not there)   and get your guy? Why take a chance that your guy will be there?  Just go get your guy--

Dan: I anticipated you might agree with me. What do you think of Travis Hunter? More "valuable" to most NFL teams than getting a new QB?  Does the prior statement apply to the Giants?  Just wondering what you think about these issues. Bob

IMHO   a team not needing a QB--Travis Hunter is the no brainer pick

Since my last post  I have watched more film, listened to Hunter talk etc etc   and IMHO  he is the #1 pick--Whoever has the #1 pick has a helluva decision to make, if that team also needs a QB.    I truly believe the kid is that good.

As I and others have said, what rookie QB will want to be drafted by a team whose HC will get fired at the end of the player's first season if material improvement has not been made?  Now the QB will be on HC2 by the end of his first year.  Not a recipe for stability.  Deion is sure concerned about that.  It's one big reason why Daboll has to be fired.

He has to be fired because of a hypothetical???   :-??  :-??

And what if they go 7-10 or 8-9 next season? Does he still get fired? What if he pulls a 2022 and make it to the playoffs?

They have been asking this question every year where a QB is expected to be drafted first overall whether it is Williams, Young, Lawrence or Burrow and they all sign rookie deals and report to camp. A first overall pick hasn't forced a trade since Eli who was widely criticized for it. If SD really wanted him Eli would have eventually seen that their was no way out. Then you have to go back nearly 42 years to John Elway who had leverage in that he could pitch and was already playing in the Yankees minor league system. So enough of this grandstanding that so and so won't play for the team that drafted him 1st overall and will make him the face of the franchise and highest paid rookie ever.

Dan: Not only do I agree with you, I believe that statement should also apply to the Giants.

My reasoning: we stink at picking QB's, so why not pick the wrong QB in Round 2 or 3 (or lower) rather than turning down a sure-fire elite player by picking a QB in Round One?

The guy is a legit 2-way player.  Two for the price of one. Of course, the converse of the latter argument is, "Yeah, but when he gets injured we lose two starters at once.

They will take either Sanders or Ward in that order.

Cheers!

I agree with Bob on this one. If they are 100% set on a particular QB, they have to do whatever it takes to get him, and for the Giants to get out of "QB Hell". It worked with Eli a couple of decades ago, and we've been in the abyss ever since he retired. We need a ray of hope...something that seems to be eluding me lately  :(
The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing
