Yes, Rich, there are others. He's the main one and truly the only one who can effect change. It starts with him. He's the first and biggest domino.

I know you're down on Schoen and you have your reasons. I see something there. I think he can and will right this ship.

Tim,

About being down on Schoen and Daboll.  You characterize that as some sort of reaction to Daniel Jones departing the team.  Yet I have been critical of both men well before that happened.  I had major issues with Daboll over the whole Wink fiasco (If I remember correctly, you sided with Daboll against Wink).

Well before this season, I had concerns about the quality of Schoen's draft picks, especially the offensive line.   Worse, Schoen had a penchant for drafting outliers and surprise picks drafted higher than expected.  That's fine; not all of those picks have enjoyed success.  I was less than thrilled 2 offseasons ago when Joe talked about liking his O-line better than outsiders did when justifying not adding to it.

What really soured me on Schoen is what I witnessed on Hard Knocks.  I was so excited to get a peak behind the current that I wasn't expecting my Wizard of Oz analogy to be so spot on.  Turns out the powerful wizard was just a fraud with no magical ability, so to speak.

I didn't mention Jones.  ;)

Seriously though, I know you had your reasons and to me, some of them were valid. Despite those valid ones, I feel he can right the ship and should get the opportunity. It was a wreck when he took over. It is unreasonable to expect a turnaround in less than three years, especially when the MTM (Mara the Meddler) is still involved.

Daboll seems to get hate for his playcalling, which is not accurate for me, the amount of open WRs has been talked ad nauseum so I won't get into it, Kurt Warner, who sees the same thing, while also playing the position of QB at a HoF and championship winning level and knows what a QB sees om the field, had plenty to say about the plays being left on the field, he went into decent enough detail on it.

Daboll is more of a players coach, he needs to build better relationships with his staff. I like how he went about assembling his original staff, going beyond personal relationships and leaving no stone unturned. I do like that, I just think he needs to do a better job getting everyone on the same page on the coaching staff. Bowen seems like an awful hire, that is on him, but I can appreciate his top several choices all got blocked by the teams employing them. That is out of anyone's control, but shows he was maybe looking at the right places originally.

He also needs to give the team more preseason snaps, and ramp up the offseason program some, to hopefully come out swinging out the gate.

He had bad QBs and a bunch of injuries, it is what it is. If he can build better relationships with his coaches, not get blocked for a quality DC (maybe offer someone Asst HC alongside DC?), and up the offseason program, with a better QB hopefully coming through the draft, I think a lot of people will see his play calling is actually very good.

I do not think Schoen looks at player acquisition in a vacuum, he doesn't seem to have great relationships with the players, that is OK it isn't his job to. His job is to bypass the emotions and make the hard decisions. but back to player acquisition, I do believe any in depth offseason plans or strategy was kept under wraps and not televised, giving it the appearance of what others claim.

Schoen's early drafting is a mixed bag, but they started out not having a full scout team in place, having some holdovers from past regime, and other factors etc, the more time has passed, and his team was more established, the drafts and FAs have gotten better, and he has done a great job with the cap as well. I remember some hating him asking the DC about Burns, I love it, give the coaches players they want, don't force ones they don't.

My main criticisms on Schoen, is not signing Julian Love, and not getting trade compensation for some of the players they allowed to walk, some were reported to have interest and offers, so some of these guys should have been dealt for additional picks that could help our current depth some. He also drafts for needs just a tad too much.

I also don't like how Evan Neal is not getting tried out at G, maybe he could be the next Mekhi Becton, I will hate if he becomes that for someone else at Guard.

If you ask me, I am more high on Schoen, than I am Daboll, but I think they are the right tandem. Between Josh Allen and Jayden Daniels, it is clear they have a good eye for QB talent. I hope they make the right selection.
