Brian Flores as HC in 2025

brownelvis54

For me...its time to move on from Daboll. I feel like he lost the locker-room. Looking at our current roster, IMO our best players are on defense. Brian was and is a very good defensive coach. What could he do with , Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux? Could he get the other young players on defense on the right path for success?

I am not sure what happened in Miami, but I seem to remember some players saying he was too tuff on them? I could be wrong. Add to the fact he had some not so nice words abut the Giants if my memory serves me right.

Winning makes everyone forget the past. Brain is young and his record doesn't lie.

How would you feel? Would you be open to a Brain Flores HC ?

The New York Giants are in a position of uncertainty. While they have key players like Malik Nabers, Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux, their current regime is not getting the job done. The team needs a new franchise quarterback—and possibly a new head coach.

Although the Giants have committed to head coach Brian Daboll for next season, the team's recent performance has raised some doubts. If the Giants decide to move on from Daboll, they could consider a defensive-minded head coach to fully embrace their defensive identity. Brian Flores, who has transformed the Minnesota Vikings into an elite defensive unit, would be a strong candidate. Furthermore, the Giants arguably have more defensive talent than the Vikings. With Flores at the helm, especially working with the Giants' defensive line, a quick turnaround in New York seems achievable. Considering Flores grew up in the Bronx, a move to the Giants makes all the sense in the world.

If Flores were to join the Giants, one of his first tasks would be addressing the quarterback position. The Giants are likely to have a high draft pick in the 2025 draft, and quarterback will certainly be a priority. However, the 2025 quarterback class lacks a consensus top prospect, which could leave the team needing a stopgap option for the season. Bringing Sam Darnold over from Minnesota alongside Flores could be a logical move. Their existing relationship could help ease the transition into 2025.

Even with no other major changes, if the Giants were to bring in Brian Flores and Sam Darnold for the 2025 season, they could reasonably expect to win 9-11 games. The combination of an elite defensive line under Flores and Darnold's stability would provide the consistency needed until a new franchise quarterback takes over in 2026.

It would be an immediate improvement. People forget that Flores was a winner in Miami when he was fired. But I don't think he and the Giants would consider this given what went down between them. It's a non-starter.

I absolutely would in the event that we are looking for a new coach. Flores seems to be a very good and effective coach.

The author seems to forget there is a pending lawsuit against the NY Giants (claiming racial discrimination) by Brian Flores.   I can't imagine any scenario where the Giants would go from Florio suing them and accusing Mara of being racist to the Giants hiring the guy.

I don't see any coordinator in the league right now as a sure thing enough to move on from Daboll.

Also I'd rather have spags with a young genius oc than flores if I'm being honest.

Flores has head coaching experience though.

He brought up charges against the Giants. Mara would never.

I wouldn't even blame Mara.  I would be uncomfortable hiring someone who had sued another potential employer, much less my own.   When you hire someone, you need to have mutual trust.   Florio clearly doesn't trust the Giants, and the Giants have a reason not to trust Florio (after the lawsuit)

All the reports were that Mara was the one who really wanted him, but he yielded to his new GM who wanted Daboll.

I think you are probably right that this would never happen though, as bridges have been burned.

kartanoman

Not going to happen.

Never going to happen as long as the Mara family owns the Giants.

I'm sorry, but I don't have a scenario where a Flores, currently awaiting his lawsuit against the Giants (and other teams) to be heard, would want to be head coach of the Giants, and the Giants would be interested in his services.

Peace!

Brian Flores is right there with Vrable. Two winning season with Miami he would be great for the Giants. The defense would definitely improve with his leadership. Vrable to me would be great as well its 1a, 1b for me. As for Shoen he should hit the road as well. I want to raid the Cowboys and hire Will McClay. It's time for a solid beginning enough of these entry level hiring. The Giants need proven winners.

He did but there is some truth to the charges and hiring Flores would basically put an end to those charges. Honestly he was the right hire since he had a successful coaching stent in the Miami two winning seasons was considered very difficult in Miami.

DaveBrown74

I think it's worth considering the question in the poll.

The question is WOULD YOU be open to hiring Brian Flores to be the next HC. Not if you think the Giants would be open to it.

He will make a very good head coach. Another monumental mistake by Mara in not hiring him three years ago. He has been a head coach (and did surprisingly well with very little), he has worked for the great Mike Tomlin, the legend, Belicheck, and now with one of the rising very good head coaches, O'Connell. The Giants won't hire him and again it will be their loss

I disagree that it was a monumental mistake by Mara not to hire him. I thought it was important that Mara finally took the step of deferring to his GM to make that decision.

If we want to kill Schoen for the Daboll hire and for other things, that is fine. And if we want to kill Mara for hiring Schoen, that is also fine.

But I don't see how we can call for Mara to meddle less but then simultaneously criticize him for not overruling his new GM and forcing him to hire a coach that was not his first choice. That feels very inconsistent to me.
