Where is Steve Tisch in all this?

I understand that Mara is in charge of the football side of the organization from an ownership perspective. Still though, I really wonder why Steve Tisch, who owns 50% of the team, is this publicly silent when things are this bad. I have no doubt he is in at least somewhat close contact with Mara, but he does not seem to be much of a presence at games or with the media.

Obviously we as fans cannot possibly know all the dynamics behind the scenes. But I'm curious about the extent to which Tisch even cares about this colossal train wreck this organization has become. Is he not disturbed by how bad things have gotten under his partner's watch? And if he is, why is that not more obvious?

Probably rather happy with this profit dividends.

I would imagine that Tisch is in close contact with Mara, but as you said, Mara is the "Football Guy". Whether they both agree on everything or not is probably kept behind closed doors with Mara being the only public "voice" of the organization. I would like to know what Tisch thinks and what moves he would like to see to set this team right again, but I do think that leaving the public statements to Mara is a good move. The last thing the team needs is to have both owners speaking to the public and contradicting each other and seeming at odds with one another.
It happens all the time here in Dallas...McCarthy will be on the radio or at the podium saying one thing, and then Jerruh comes in behind him with different answers or comments under cutting his HC. Not a good look.
So, I don't think not hearing from Tisch is a bad thing necessarily.

Great question.

Some have suggested that Steve Tisch is less involved in the Giants since his 36-year-old daughter committed suicide back in August of 2020.

I'm sure he is.

But Tisch was born rich.. He has never once had to worry about money in his life. Is he really that intensely focused on it now at age 75?

I get the sense that he is just chilling out in LA and enjoying his lifestyle there. Sure, he'll make the occasional appearance and I'm sure he has scheduled calls with Mara and others from time to time, but I don't get the impression he is all that bothered by what is going on. I think if he were, that anger would make its way to the public one way or another.

Needless to say he's obviously free to do whatever he wants. But I feel like he is one of the only people on the planet (perhaps THE only) who can possibly cause Mara to make more structural changes, including (if not especially) the degree to which he inserts himself into day to day operations. I find it somewhat disappointing that a guy who owns 50% of this team doesn't seem more inclined to want to improve it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tisch has come to understand what a lost cause Johnny is and has resigned himself to sitting back and collecting the dough or possibly quietly looking for a buyer.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Mara has a good setup with Tisch. Most other 50% owners these days wouldn't be nearly as accepting of failure and hands-off as Tisch is. Mara should go out of his way to keep him happy. If Tisch ever said "I want out" that wouldn't be ideal for Mara, as he certainly doesn't have the cash to buy him out himself.

Tim Mara got as much blame about the Giants mess in the 70's as Wellington did. They kept their problems behind closed doors. Tim worked to hire Andy Robustelli to run football operations and then worked to get rid of him when he found out Wellington was still running the show. Their business became public after The Fumble. It took a long time and the urging of Tim and other NFL team owners to get Pete Rozelle involved and get Wellington to sit back and let GM's run the team.

There were bylaws that they drew up at that time and could possibly have been changed or amended when Robert Tisch bought Tim's half. Why is John the president and Steve the vice president? Steve is older than John and his siblings. I think the Tisch side is 50% owners as far as profits go, but the president has final say, effectivly making the Tisch side 49% on football matters.

The Tisch's bought in to handle the business side. In the past ten years, even with fielding a far inferior team the value of the Giants increased from $2.1 Billion to $7.3 Billion. That's where he is. I find it hard to believe that Mara really feels distraught over this team. Increasing in value $5 Billion is a great salve.

In this town you can go from "Bono to Bozo". Bono has left the building and the circus has arrived. Tisch hears and sees everything and is in contact with Mara. The decision is simple and this team is no doubt worse today than the day they took over. Every position has been down graded except for Nabers. Schoen while getting the cap down is not able to keep good players what's the point of cap space if you don't keep your better players. He was not able to keep a potential MVP and A potential DPOY that is not good management. Daboll, I hate to repeat myself but his cons completely out weigh the pros. You can't bring them back and ownership knows this its an opportunity to hit reset with New GM, HC, QB. This is a crucial moment in Giant history. This is the moment that decides whether they win this next decade or set themselves back another 5 years.

Couldn't we have said exactly this after the Judge/Gettleman firings?

This analogy again? Bono is a bozo!

How has the team's value increased compared to other NFL teams? The NFL's television and gambling contracts have the most to do with the increased value, not Tisch or Mara.

They're fourth behind Dallas, L.A. Rams, and New England. My point is what business fails misreably, and in the last 10 years increases 3.5 times in value. Put it this way, you work at a job and are horrible at it for the past ten years, yet are told don't worry you have a job, and we're going to pay you 3.5 times what you earned 10 years ago. Human nature alone, where is the incentive to improve? You really think he gives a $hit about us fans? Seat licenses, parking, ticket prices, food etc. He needs to be hurt financially to effect a real change. Remember it's a business. We keep getting reminded of that.
