If you Draft Sanders or Ward you do NOT sign a bridge QB

Sorry...I know most will say they may not be ready to start day 1... but they better get there

I see zero point in putting 10+ mil in a bridge QB .... you can put that towards a CB1, another O-linemen for that young QB .... or maybe even a DT next to Dexy.. or a WR2 to replace Slayton to help out Nabers

Putting 10 mil in a QB who is not the future .... We don't need the Kurt Warner experiment again ... honestly even 5-7 mil is wasted money

Roll with Devito as the backup and that's it... if the QB is proven to be injury prone in the future then you spend money on a backup QB

Eli had Jared Lorenzen as his backup for years ... we will be alright with Devito as the backup

Draft the QB and tell him to put on his big boy pants ..silly otherwise

Maybe not $10m but I want a stable, reasonably competent veteran backup/spot starter on the team for at least the first year if we draft a rookie.

And that goes for whether they decide to start the rookie in week one or perhaps later in the season.

MightyGiants

The Giants need a starter and a backup QB.  Call him a bridge or a veteran backup, NYG needs one
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

Over the last 10 years, what team has drafted a QB top 5 and elected to bench them for more than half the 1st season? If the Giants draft a QB with their first pick, he will start early in the season.  That's the modern NFL...

I'd rather the rookie sit behind a veteran for at least half the season.

This team has been trash for 10+ years. Rushing him out there ain't gonna change anything. Ease him into the game. What's the rush?

Which is why I think spending on one is pointless

No rush

But just like spending 5 mil on Lock was a waste I think it will be a bigger waste on vet backup/bridge qb

If he's going to play within 6 games anyways just roll with Devito then .... Put that money elsewhere

I'd rather he sit behind a guy he can learn from.

You need a vet QB on the cheap to help the rookie through things
Plays
How to prepared
Read defenses
It doesn't have to be alot.
If Devito can do that
Keep him

Trey Lance is one who comes to mind.

This is where I personally wish Eli could come back and just be a mentor for the rookie.

I'm not suggesting he plays again, what I wish is that Eli could just sit down with him and show him how to prepare, how to read defenses, how to beat coverages, and just how to be a pro day in and day out.

But that is just a wish.

Is there studies that show this works ?

What exactly is he learning? The flow of the game ? Coach player interaction ?

He can learn that under Devito

If we want a GOOd veteran who's had success in the league ... than that essentially is writing an expensive check for a bridge qb or a 6-10 game rental

My point is I think that money is better  spent else where

You are going to have to spend for someone like that ..... and at that point draft Travis Hunter and prey for Arch to fall to us next years draft

No qb is going to want to come here unless they are thinking they have a solid chance to start the whole season .....unless it's a qb of ummmmm Daniel Jones level who has something to prove .... And at that point I rather just roll with Devito and not spend the money on a Jones type of QB again when we could get an O-lineman for example

This would be something that would be a perfect scenario where we don't have to have a "veteran" qb

Sanders/Ward and even Devito could learn a lot
