I'll just ask, how did it work out for us the last time we had a QB in Shurmur's system and then he had to play outside of his system - and do you potentially want that same experience again?

Two different players, two different circumstances.

If Daboll can't get the best out of his QB, whoever that may be, he's gonna be out of a job.

My main reason for wanting him back was primarily to see what his offense can do with a QB he believes in. If it doesn't work, I'm OK with canning him.

Unless the Giants sign someone like Justin Fields and Daboll turns him into the next Jalen Hurts you will not know next year about how he is with a drafted QB as there is no one like Jayden Daniels or Bo Nix in this years draft that can have a significant impact on the team. Any QB drafted will probably have to sit and learn for most of the year. Are you then going to say, if the Giants stink again, that we have to give Daboll another year to work with his 2025 drafted QB because he never had a chance in 2025 to evaluate what he can do ?

The short answer is 'No.'

The long answer is that they key point is that they are not longer saddled with a substantial boat anchor weighing down the offense.

Whoever they get to play QB, be it a free agent or rookie, better show that he can run Daboll's offense and be successful enough in it to show that Daboll is the right guy. If he doesn't, I have no problems with letting Daboll go.
