Who should stay and who should be fired?

MightyGiants

Who should stay, and who should be fired?  This is about Schoen and Daboll, so there is no "other" to talk about Mara selling the team or being fired.
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

What I think should happen: both deserve to be fired.

What I think will happen: Daboll is a lock to be fired. Schoen is probably 60-40 to return.

Schoen is less likely to be fired than Daboll. The Giants being the symbol of ineptitude in the NFL will most likely keep both and the legend of mismanagement will continue.

I'm a proponent for organizational stability and not firing coaches or GMs every few years (which is exactly what this team has been doing). That being said, they have gotten progressively worse in the three years that Schoen and Daboll have been in charge. They've gone from winning record/playoff win, to bad, to worst team in the league and a laughing stock. You just cant bring them back.

9 votes to go

7 to stay.

So about as close as the numerous other threads on this very topic suggests.

Only a few more weeks before on our second guessing can stop and we can move into further guessing games about who the Giants will draft.

What a time to be a Giants fan.

I can't vote. I don't believe any of these are the answer. What difference would it make if they make changes at those levels? The problems with this team are much deeper than the coach and GM. Sure, Daboll made some bad calls over the last 2 seasons, but it would've amounted to a couple more wins for a last place team. I'd like to see someone else calling plays so Daboll can concentrate on other types of decisions like 4th downs and clock management.

One of the options should have been fire Schoen, Daboll and Tear down the stadium and build one with a winning atmosphere. Metnonlife stadium hasn't been good to the Giants or Jets for that matter.

I think they should both stay and get a shot with a real QB.  However, if one of them goes the other has to go too. The dumbest thing they could actually do is fire one but not the other.  We've been in that vicious cycle before.  Where the next guy blames the incumbent so that guy gets fired rinse and repeat.  If you're going to fire somebody just do them both and be done with it.  But as I said, I think both deserve a real chance with a real QB.

I was vocal about the QB situation from the day they were hired. But how does that negligence excuse all the other blunders? After three years they are terrible in every phase of the game.

Remember they passed up on real QBs last draft. They could have had McCarthy, Nix or Pennix. They had options so talent evaluation and foresight has to come into play. Knowing a bad start would make their decision on Jones.

I remember. Mistake.

Everyone with the name Mara should be fired from the football operations side.

If a bonafide veteran NFL EXECUTIVE could be brought in as President of Football Operations ala George Young back in the day....whereby HE is accountable for a Schoen/Daboll regime, whether to keep or replace.

That would give me some hope.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

McCarthy and Pennix are unknowns . They could be good or they could be a bust . McCarthy has had two knee surgeries already . Nix is a different story . SEan Peyton is the Head Coach, Joe Lombardi the OC and Davis Webb the QB coach . That is probably a much better staff than what we have. Incidentially Joe Lombardi is the grandson of Vince Lombardi.

That's very true Dave but you can say that about Sanders or Ward no such thing as sure things even if Picking number 1. But on the bright side he got Nabers right.
McCarthy and Pennix were known as their teams were respectively the top 1&2 teams in college football.

What I meant about unknowns is that they have not produce anything in the NFL unlike Nix
