I agree with Bobby on this one.  Schoen has done a much worse job as a GM than Daboll has done as a head coach

I think it's hard to justify keeping one and not the other. But GMs generally get longer than a HC, so I get it.

2015 fire the coach but keep the GM who has done a bad job

2019 fire the coach but keep the GM who has done a worse job than the coach

2024 let's do the same thing b/c it's worked the other times we've tried it!

2015: Jerry Reese stays. Coughlin goes.
• Mara leads the HC search, hires McAdoo.
• Reese recklessly spend money in FA.
• It falls apart in 2017.

2019: Gettleman stays. Shurmur goes.
• Mara leads the HC search,  hires Judge, who never saw eye to eye with Gettleman.
• Gettleman recklessly spends money in FA.
• It falls apart in 2021.

As much as I am on fence about Daboll (I do think his in game work has been awful and he can't do the play calling and head coach duty), I would want to know for sure the following:

1. Who of these 2 (if any) wanted to sign Jones?

2. Which QB did Daboll wanna draft vs Schoen?

3. Who pushed to give 5 million to Lock?

If Schoen was the answer to any of these 3 then HE must go also....or else keep both of them (and if we go 0-4 next year, they will both need to go.

They should both go but there can be no way Daboll should stay. He is way out of his league as a head coach.

I don't have access to the full article.

But Bobby's statement,
Quote"...but John Mara is going to let a GM scapegoat a head coach for a 3rd time."
has me wondering if a decision has already been made but not announced.

Baseless speculation on the part of Schwartz. It's been discussed or posed by a lot of fans. Just not in the Rag NY. post. That said, it's 50/50. Is Schoen goes they both go.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Yes, the Giants would like to keep Joe Schoen (Daboll is a lost cause at this point).

But for anyone who still thinks the Giants don't try to control the beat writers, watch this video.

The rag post has actually been correct moreso the not.

As posted in another thread, I would add the Evan Neal not getting a tryiut at Guard as another barometer to assess who should stay and who should go!

To not see this issue has me scratching my head. It should be examined by ownership.

Can someone post the article? Not all of use use X or access X.

Mara ego would never allow it but I would consider making Coughlin head of football operations. He turned Jags around quickly.

Not sure why they fell off so fast though.

Chris B. and Paul Schwartz are the two beat writers who the Giants use when they want news to "leak"

So if Paul Schwartz is floating the idea of keeping Schoen and firing Daboll, it's likely more than just baseless speculation

One good season which he had little say on the roster that was already in place when he arrived. He turned the Jags into a dumpster fire and alienated the players into a near mutiny. He soiled his reputation as a front office executive. No other teams have considered bringing him into their brass in any role since he was fired.
