This should be interesting. 14 games preparing.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Damn it.  Hope wins his debut.

So the Giants are going to face the QB they passed on.

When I posted this it had completely slipped my mind that the Falcons next game was the Giants.

Either Atlanta waited to make this move when they were at home on Sunday, or ...

They decided the Raiders without Maxx Crosby and with Desmond Ridder at QB were too risky, but the Giants are weaker and thus the perfect opportunity.

The Falcons paid a lot of money for Cousins.  I don't think they were eager to make the switch.  They probably ramped up Penix's snaps in the last couple of weeks while preparing to make the move.

Cousins tanking like he did was not ideal for the Giants.  It meant there was zero chance a team would be trading for Cousins, believing they were getting a starting QB (or a high-end bridge QB) at this point.  That's one more QB off the market before the Giants even go shopping.

I said it at the time and now it's more obvious: the Falcons totally butchered their growth by signing Cousins to huge money and then using a high pick on a QB. It's good that they might have their QB of the future but that Cousins contract is gonna weigh them down for a long time. I hope the best for Penix. If he looks like a keeper it's just another nail in Schoen's coffin.

This is perfect, the Falcons will protect Pennix by finally focusing on their running game...one of our defensive deficiencies is stopping the run.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

We are going to determine that in one game against the pathetic Giants defense?

I didn't say that. I meant overall in the next few games and really into next year. But, without even taking a snap he would be a considerable improvement over the Giants QB room 2024.

I didn't want Schoen to draft Pennix, certainly not in the first round. Yes he throws a beautiful pass. I cite his age, I don't like lefty QB's, and the injury history. My belief is the latter will pop up early on. Good luck to him.

Rich,  I don't follow.  How does this affect the Giants other than for Sunday's game?

Would the Falcons actually waive Cousins and eat like 60+ million in dead cap or just keep him on as a ridiculously expensive backup.  As far as backups go these days there aren't a lot of good ones.  He'd be the best they can find even in this diminished state and since Penix is on a rookie deal he's super cheap.  They'd be paying the money either way why not keep him?
