What is your take away from the Giants trying to silence all criticism

We know that Pat Hanlon reached out and threatened (by withdrawing all support) Bobby Skinner of Talkin Giants for posting a video calling for the firing of Schoen and Daboll.

We also know the Giants did something similar with ESPN complaining about a segment that was critical (and frankly out of line) with Daniel Jones.

In light of their historically bad season and the fact that the team is going hard with the media to stifle any and all criticism, regardless of how fair and well-founded, what is your take?

Also, in light of this new information (the Giant's PR push), how do you feel about the media people who have gone out of their way to support the Giant's management, like Art Stapleton and Pat Traina?

Bobby is extremely good and the Giants are being so reactionary to legitimate criticism. What's next? Not letting him and Justin come to camp next year?? Threatening his sponsors?? Just pathetic. Embarrassing.

So fed up with this joke of an organization..really sad.

There are always going to be folks on either side, some for and some against. The media has a job to do and those on the  "Fire Everyone" side have as much right to say it as those on the opposite side. If the Giants want to silence them, PLAY BETTER AND START WINNING GAMES!
Until then, let them speak their minds.

The Giants PR department reminds me of today's media in general which doesn't seek truth and it's quite concerning that they would make threats and such.

Hanlon should probably go also.

It's a waste of time. Like Ozzie said, you want the complaining to stop, do better.

I will say Art's Tweet takes on a whole new meaning when you consider that they answer to the Giants' PR department.  Art may have scored mega-points with the Giants, but he lost all credibility with me.

It definitely hurts the credibility of Stapleton and Traina, who I do like.

Different sport, but something similar happened with the 7-line.  They were VERY critical of the Wilpons.  Many of their original members have called the 7-line owner a sell out.  He was given an MLB license of some sort, but now has to have designs for t-shirts approved by the Mets.  Once that happened, the criticism stopped.

Good for the Talking Giants guys. I've been watching their videos the past few weeks and they're doing a great job during an awful season.

As far as the Giants trying to bully them, we need more media types who will stand up to the powers that be. Bobby and Justin showed real integrity.

Speaking of integrity, access journalism is a huge problem in our society. Not just in sports, but everywhere. The idea is you can't be too critical or people won't take your calls. It's the worst in politics where politicians, donors, and journalists all attend the same cocktail parties. The only separation between any of those groups is based on political party. Other than that, they are all working for the same goal. The media as the fourth estate only exists in the independent space. It's not a good thing for any of us.

If they wish to run their Communications Department like the Chinese, Russian or North Korean Propaganda machine, then all the more power to them.

When nobody wants to manage, coach or play for this team, due to scaring away prospects as a result of their Draconian methods of "Controlling the Message," they'll find a level of consistency by the time they celebrate their bicentennial season.

100+ years of stinking up North Jersey so bad the Feds have to call the EPA out to mitigate the disaster inside the rotten Sardine Can.

Peace!

This ... the more they just squash dissent and stick their fingers in their ears when they hear fan criticism, the more fans will just walk away, until they're left as a franchise that coaches and players come to to draw a paycheck, make business decisions on the field, and wait to go elsewhere to actually compete, while a bunch of nepotistic executives tell each other "we're close". The next step after anger and criticism is apathy.

We might be closer to that than this front office realizes.

Ed Vette

I would expect most organizations return criticism and exchange thoughts with the media. In the case of Talkin Giants, It's within their right to do so. I recognize that they used the opportunity as strategy to support their GM and strongly get the word out that he's not going anywhere. That in essence, shut down all other outlets that intended to call for his head. Knowing that...Bobby and Justin took advantage of the opportunity, too. A win-win.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."
~ Coach Tom Coughlin

It's dumb to even care.  They should do what they think is best for the team.  If that means firing everybody then do it.  If they think these guys deserve a chance with a real QB since they appear to have knocked the last draft out of the park...then give it to them.  Who cares about planes in the sky or a podcast on the internet.  Fans are mad because it's been a decade of crap since Eli and Coughlin were shown the door.  They're going to be emotional and going to lash out.  There's no sense in even giving a single crap about it let alone trying to silence it.

Don't we do enough complaining- see whining, bashing, and hating- to give us our fill without applying it to those who would rather not, or might choose to do otherwise? Geezis H!

Giantleap56

Free speech is a thing in America. I think the Giants PR person is out of touch and the entire organization has been out of touch with the fan base and definitely out of touch with winning. I see a lot of on the payroll Giant reporters doing the Giants bid and have been silenced. Patricia Triana and Tiki have been leading the charge. I like Patricia she does great work backing this organization, right now you have to be kidding me. This organization is in Dire straits they need change and a winning formula has to be found sitting on their hand won't cut it. The team has been in decline every year even a number one draft pick doesn't give them any hope for next year. This is such a great opportunity to start fresh all around with an experienced winning coach,GM and a new QB.

H-Town G-Fan

PR department tries to control negative press (almost precisely its job description). I can't begin to care.
