Pat Hanlon is a friggen joke and a perfect person to run PR for this joke of an organization. Threatening journalists and bloggers is pathetic.

Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on December 18, 2024, 12:40:05 PMPR department tries to control negative press (almost precisely its job description). I can't begin to care.

I consider it more than just that.  They are trying to protect the incompetent regime that created the bad team.  I think there is a difference between trying to have reporters being positive toward the team versus protecting the jobs of people who don't deserve their jobs.

While I always knew reporters were somewhat bound not to be too negative in their reporting of the team, this example made transparent by Bobby Skinner and the outstanding well, well-thought-out video that inspired the ire of the team has made me see the media in a different light.

As an example, I subscribe to Tyler Dunne's Go Long.  This summer, the Giants gave Tyler free access to the team to write a long article about them.   Now, on the 6th, he writes an article making a case for Joe Schoen to keep his job.   Before Bobby's, I would have taken his article at face value.  Now, I see it as transactional, and Tyler is paying back the team for the access he was afforded this summer.

Imagine if Joe Schoen put the same effort into drafting good players and keeping good players that he puts into bullying the press into trying to protect his job.

It's kind of funny. When I did the listing of press for and against Schoen and Daboll keeping their jobs, I did it as more of a poll of media sentiment and getting an idea of where they were coming from in their future articles.  Now, I feel like it's become a list of which media members I can truly trust are voicing their own opinions and which ones are willing to make their opinions match what the Giants tell them their opinions should be.
