The top six look like the real deal so far, except for JJ. It would have been interesting to see him play, but Darnold started out strong, so he still may not have seen the field on a serious playoff contender.

This is looking to become the best QB Draft Class in a very long time. Any thoughts on this?
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Early returns are good but let's see how they look mid-season after teams have a full year of tape on them.

Jones had a solid first year too.

With JJ on IR, I guess we can talk about the top 5

Penix-  I thought he looked pretty good in his NFL debut.  Although I am mindful, it was against the woeful NYG defense.

Nix-  He has looked solid.

Maye-  Has looked impressive.

Daniels- Likely offensive rookie of the year

Caleb-  this hasn't looked great with him; he can still turn it around but it's ironic the QB drafted first has looked the worst
.

That all said, I am mindful that CJ Stroud has come down to earth.  Mac Jones had a Pro Bowl rookie year only to become a bust.  Once NFL defenses have an offseason to study these QBs, it's up to them to take their games to the next level to counter.

In terms of which QBs have shown the potential to be elite, I would say only Daniels has shown that to date.

I think Maye has a chance to reach that level.

I suspect Nix may prove to be in that tier, just below the elite QBs (like a Dak Prescott)

Pennix, it's too early to tell, and it will be interesting to see how Caleb does next year with a new HC/OC and system.

That's a good assessment. Caleb Williams has been a mixed bag for sure and he was the anointed one by many here.

Caleb has some concerns, but nothing that can't be fixed. He is completing over 62% of his passes, has the most pressure on him, and is still doing OK overall. I'd much rather have him than someone like Anthony Richardson or Bryce Young.

Two Years in a row though, the 2nd QB has been better. This is why they will need to do their due diligence, and get the pick right instead of just taking the "consensus" pick like Chicago did.

In fairness, Daniels was throwing to Nabers and Thomas.  He just had to keep it in the stadium.

The only problem with Caleb Williams is that his team is losing. If they were winning Williams would be seen in a different light. I mean he has pretty comparable stats to Daniels and in fact has 3 less interceptions than Daniels. While Daniels holds a 22 TD to 19 TD passes lead.

I'm referring to their rookie years in the NFL.

This is a perfect example of why I avoid raw stats and prefer measures like QB rating and QBR (or PFF grades even).

As you say, there is only a 3 passing TD difference between the two.  Yet if you look at the measures I prefer

QB rating

Daniels- 101.3
Caleb- 89.3

QBR

Daniels- 71.9
Caleb- 47.7

PFF

Daniels- 88.8
Caleb- 68.1

Caleb's physical abilities are amazing.  He makes some incredible throws on the move.  It's not going to help him to have a new OC next year.

Daniels was the QB I REALLY wanted, but resigned myself to the fact that he wouldn't be there.

Williams looks like a victim of a poorly run franchise.

Maye is a pleasant surprise to me and looks like the real deal.

Nix is a nice story but may turn out to be fools gold. IMHO.

Regardless this is way better picking than the upcoming class. We're tanking for number one over all and whomever that QB is will not be as good as last years top three QB's.
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Excellent post! Agree with all of it except for Maye being a "pleasant surprise." I liked him as much as Williams (but liked Daniels best).

Fair enough. Although of the games I have watched of both QBs it is very apparent to me that Daniels has the better team around him. Daniels also has some of the best oline protection in the NFL. But I haven't watched every game of theirs so my opinions are just of the games/snaps I have seen. 19 TDs with only 5 interceptions as a rookie is pretty darn good no matter what the PFF, QBR or QB rating is.
