Do you agree that Schoen and Daboll are a package deal?

Agree, but both should go.

Schoen blew 2 drafts including the all important one with a 5th and 7th; he signed DJ when he should have let him prove with 1 more year on rookie deal and his FA pickups especially attn to OL have been subpar.

Daboll did not develop a QB, he did not improve any position group meaningfully and his record has worsened each year to a woefully low 2 win season.

Can it be any more obvious they should get canned?

If we draft a new QB, let a new team do it and manage his growth.

T200

Yes.

They should either both be kept or both let go.

If one *must* stay, keep Schoen. He's undoubtedly learned from his mistakes and to push back against Mara.

Schoen can stay, IMO.
Daboll MUST go.

Having said this, I'd MUCH rather see them BOTH leave than seeing them together again in 2025.

This level of mediocrity is unacceptable.

Something MUST be changed (not just the QB).

"Undoubtedly"  :what:

There is literally zero evidence to support your claims that Mara, rather than Schoen, ran the team into the ground.

Plenty of people have been convicted on circumstantial evidence.

There's enough of that to confidently say that Schoen didn't want Jones and that he's not making decisions based on Mara's fears or wants.

There is not even circumstantial evidence.  All available evidence supports that Schoen and Daboll have been exclusively steering the ship for the past three seasons.

I respect and accept that's how you see it.

I've stated my views and why.

It's OK to see things differently... we're still fans of the same team!   :goteam:

I do not think it has been a boss/subordinate relationship but a true partnership.  They've made decisions together.  That's why I think both have to go.

My evidence that Mara is culpable is that he is the common denominator overseeing each configuration of FO/Coaching staff since the Colonel was fired.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

They were a package deal when they were hired. They should be a package deal when they leave. It was a sham coaching search once they hired Schoen. It was always going to be Daboll. And that was the first mistake of many the GM has made.

Gmo11

They should be a packaged deal. Keep em both or can them both. Either way would be justified. The only insane thing they could do is fire one but not the other. Which I fear is exactly going to happen.

They were and are a package deal it was thought.  They each were given 5 year contracts weren't they??  And my memory tells me that the majority of us were OK with that. Five years to turn things around.  It was going to take that long according to most of us experts.  Anybody could see that DG left this team in such a mess it would take something short of a miracle to turn it around in less time than five years.  Unless of course, we go 2-15, are not perfect in our drafts, handle some free agent situations poorly, are overrated as a play caller, doesn't recognize the "talent" he has available to him, sticks with the same average players when he has UDFA sitting on the bench who should be given a shot, in we the smart guys opinion.  So its altogether different now--The five year hope is out the window.  How quickly we forget!!!   So lets can both of em and start over but if we do I hope the Giants are honest and upfront with anyone who would be foolish to come into this dysfunctional organization.  Make sure that the next regime understands that you have three years or less to turn it around even though I am going to give you a five year contract or else you are outta here, and lets start over again.  Is that the modus operandi we want>??

And now, like Nero twiddling his thumbs we have a meddling owner who sits on his duff and lets the perfect candidate for taking over and really turning this team around, a 72 year old Brady less former coach with a record of 65-82 as such whose is so much in demand that his next job is as a college coach at a college that is NOT considered a blue blood of college football programs.  Word is that he wouldn't take the Giants job unless he got 10 million per year GUARANTEED for five years because he is so good that he knows that it's going to take more than THREE years to turn this mess around.

I ask myself "why do I continue to root for a team that is such an embarrassment"??

Easy answer--as this rant indicates--I am just as dysfunctional as the damn team I root for

Schoen is all about image and being okay throwing Daboll under the bus, he gets to keep his organizational dysfunction in place and is ridiculous. Both are to blame. But for JS, it's another excuse to keep his job (which he doesn't deserve to), draft a QB, hire a new coach, which gives him an extension. It wash, rinse and repeat foolishness..easy way out- not real introspection and thoughtfulness, self-awareness. Detached from reality stuff that works.
