Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on December 30, 2024, 12:34:44 PMWhat would the coach tell his players before the game ," Ok fellas we are going to lose this game . Malik, when the ball is thrown to you , drop it  and forget how to run your routes. Tyrone, when you get  to the line of scrimmage, just fall down , or better yet fumble . Brian, miss some tackles and forget about rushing Joe Flaco, Deonte, let Andrew Pierce get behind you and commit as many pass inteferences as you can."

Players are out there fighting for their livlihood , what do you want them to do . I bet you were very upset a few years ago when we beat Washington and lost out to draft Chase Young . We had to settle for Andrew Thomas.

Be happy that our team went out and played hard. Lest you forget , Lamar Jackson was a 32 round pick in 2018 and Patrick Mahomes was a 10th round pick in 2017. Since 2009, when Matthew Stafford was picked in the first round no QB other that Patrick Mahomes picked in the first round of the draft has ever won a Super Bowl.

He could have just run the ball a lot more instead of throwing it all over the field. He could have pulled Nabors as soon as he hit 100 receptions, after all, he is nursing injuries. You can lose a game without showing you are losing by just playing conservative.

Except for the one run of 40 yards by Tracey, the running game was dorment . Other than that run , i believe Tracey ran the ball Tracy ran the ball 20 times for 59 yards and that included the 40 yard run. He mustered only 19 yards on 19 attempts.Should Daboll have kept calling running plays?

Nabors is a proud football player and would have resented being pulled.  That is not the culture you want to foster . So, are you upset that the Giants do not have the first pick, is that it ?

Quote from: Giant Jim on December 30, 2024, 09:16:29 AMSo you're saying we should root for Lock to get sacked, root for Tracy to get stuffed at the line, Nabers to drop everything thrown to him and the secondary to get burned all day?

I get you, but in the end its a selfish way of thinking

Not saying you're selfish... but the enjoying the moment is selfish vs wanting whats better for the team in the future

Its just your natural urge for enjoyment that's all

But in the end this was a HUGE hit to building our future

We have complained for years now (We as in a big portion of the fanbase) to replace DJ, we had the opportunity to do that with a Rookie on a rookie contract and now that is gone

Its like necking a bottle of Whiskey ..... its the time of your life during those hours ... but when you wake up it really was just the gift of wasting money and having a mean headache... sometimes even alcohol poisoning .... and yesterday seems more like alcohol poisoning

So the people that paid top dollar to go to the game and cheered them on to win are selfish? How about the ones that paid for PSL's and stayed home because they put a lousy product on the field? How many years should they continue to "invest" in expensive tickets just to see them lose every year to get a better pick? How many top pick QB's are busts or take several years to develop? Drafting a QB at the top isn't the only way to win, look at Minnesota. How many drafts have the Giants screwed up over the last dozen or so years?

Do you own season tickets? If so, how much did you pay for the PSL? Did you watch the game? If so, why? I watched to the end because it was a great game. Selfish people like me enjoy watching the games and seeing them win, not sitting in front of the TV watching a boring draft show and dreaming.

I don't fault the players. I'm happy for them because they're doing what they get paid to do. I even said as much in the Eleumenor thread.

They played hard all year and lost. Yesterday shouldn't have been any different. It's not like they didn't already set a precedence for losing.

Like I said I am not calling you selfish.... but your natural feeling towards want to winning the game at the moment

I don't blame you

But in the end this win did nothing but hurt the franchise ... Its not even a debate

No I don't have season tickets ... 1 because its expensive AF and 2 my work schedule doesn't allow me to have all my weekends off .... My money doesn't make me more or less of a fan

Like I said I don't think you are selfish... When Devito won those 3 games in a row last season I was happy... but in the end my wanting them to win selfishly was the wrong hope for the team because in the end it only made the team the way it is now

And NONE of us want to look forward to a BORING draft show... but this win will most likely give us few more boring draft shows to look forward vs the actual season

 Dave

You run the ball so we can lose, sorry to have to say that. The big picture says we needed to lose that game, not for a moment of glory, but for the future of the team. Sure Daboll had a huge smile on his face, but does one win save his job? I hope not.

Let me ask you this. How many planes are going to be flying over Giants Stadium next year when we suck again. We had the chance to possibly get a decent QB or trade down and get a bunch of draft picks and a lot of that is gone because of one meaningless win.
Dave, I'm sure you have been thru this before, as any Giants fan has, win silly games at the end of the year, celebrate them, and then come back the following year missing out on players that could have turned this franchise around. I have lived thru just too many of those and I just can't see any joy in this voctory.
