Who will be the QB answer if NYG picks 8 or 9?

I am not sure if it was here or elsewhere.  Did see some fans mentioning Cousins and the Falcons moving on from him.  Out of curiosity, checked his contract on OTC.  1) What the hell were the Falcons thinking?  2) Would be a $65MM cap hit for them to cut him as opposed to $40MM to have him on roster.  So, they are not cutting him.

Wouldn't mind taking a chance on Fields if he can be signed for cheap.

If you subscribe to my pov that there is not one in this draft worthy of a top five pick, but the goal is to find one by the twenty six draft.

First the team will absolutely need to improve, assuming Mara believes that Schoen and Daboll will turn this around. That means a W L record that will push us out of the top ten after next season. Probably no better than a seven win team that shows signs of growth will keep them.

The chances of trading up from say twelve to fourteen overall to second or first are slim and none. That means we have to find a way to collect some picks that would have to include a twenty six first rounder by trading down in this years draft. It's literally the only way we could put a package together for a top flight QB.

I didn't want to be first overall in twenty five so I'd have my choice of Sanders or Ward, I wanted the first overall because that's the drafting equivalent of Park Place and we could've really collected quite a package for the twenty six draft.

Hopefully we lose next week so that we don't drop any further and have a shot at making a deal, albeit not as plentiful as a number one would bring, but perhaps something we could parlay into the top two or three for next years draft.

In addition to picking high in every other round this year.

They really blew it with that meaningless win.

Quote from: LennG on December 30, 2024, 05:17:44 PMI have said this several times, call the Vikings and see if they make a deal for McCarthy. I can't see why not. There is simply no way after the year they have had, to suddenly dump Darnold and start a rookie. Even if we have the 7,8 or even 9th pick, they would get back the value they paid for him with a high #1 pick.
Come on, if McCarthy as in this year's draft he'd be the first QB off the board and if we drafted him most would be static.
Plus he already has been sitting for a year so he could be ready to go from day one. Why settle for some over-the-hill guy or way overpay for Darnold? Make the call Schoen, LL is a legit option.

Can't give up a 1st round pick for JJ even if it's 9 or 10 after they stupidly beat the Eagles on Sunday.  He's coming off multiple knee surgeries and has lost one year of his rookie deal already.  2nd round pick is as high as I would go and even that is iffy given the injury.  I'd need to know he's 100% back from a very serious injury to even go that high.

Don't think Darnold makes sense right now .if Vikings don't resign him he will want 40 mil to sign .Giants aren't ready for that commitment again, until the team around a QB is better.
The guy from ole miss maybe an option in round 2 after signing a veteran FA QB before the draft
