Quote from: Gmo11 on December 30, 2024, 12:31:27 PMOh I don't blame any of the players to be clear.  I'm lashing out at his comments after the game like this was somehow doing us a favor.  That pissed me off.  But i don't blame the players for trying that's their job.  I wish they would have tried to win a few more games earlier in the year before the season was completely lost.

I blame Schoen for not putting Nabers on IR the second he said his ankle hurt a little bit. As soon as you have an excuse to throw that dude on IR you do it.  It's your JOB to think about the future of the team.  It's the players' job to win the game regardless of anything else.  Now I don't if maybe Nabers demanded to play or would have been furious to be held back and they didn't want to infuriate their best playercausing a ruckus in the locker room and media.  But he should not have played in that game if it was at all possible to prevent it.

Fair enough, my friend.  I recognize your outstanding track record and always appreciate your perspective.

They do this every damn year!! How much has the "winning culture" they've built by screwing themselves over every December helped?  Maybe just ONCE we can try it the other way and actually..ya know...HELP the future of the team.

Gm: The counter to your argument (I agree with it, but...) is the issue of whether our crack scouts have any f-'n' idea who's most likely to be a good player, or are they just guessing. Worse yet, I fear this organization would rather have certain types of players than win.

Mostly (during this century) we've been victims of what I call "Giants luck" (i.e., no luck at all) and we have gotten aced out by (for example) having the 6th pick in a draft with five sure-fire prospects.

But when we have actually had a choice, a lot more often than not we have picked the wrong guy or passed over a guy who really would have been a far better choice... all too often for spurious or unexplained reasons (some of which I strongly suspect to be true but will not discuss). Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

The "Building a culture" by winning meaningless games in December has been proven to be first rate BS. Each off season there is a reset. Of course the players will and should play hard to win but the reality is, winning at this point only hurts the team.

Last year we saw on hard knocks they nailed the evaluations of Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels.  They were willing to trade up for either of those guys and if the other teams had been open to such a deal they'd have done it.  That gives me confidence that at the very least these guys can evaluate QBs.  If they had taken Ward or Sanders at #1 I would have believed they knew what they were doing.  IF they trade a thousand picks now to go get one now that they're desperate... I'll know that they don't.

Spot on!  The more I watch Drake, the more I like his game.  I think he's going to be a good one...

Quote from: Painter on December 30, 2024, 12:20:49 PMObviously, Eluemunor is just a stooge, huh Rich? Still, it seems that you may no longer be capable of doing much more than adding to the negativity, the bitching, the moaning and the whining. I keep trying to believe that you have more to offer than that sort of incessant self-deprecation or is it more like self-pitying. It's hardly becoming to your position and certainly most folks here don't need your help in that regard. There may even be some who might hope to see a Mighty-er-Giant in the future. Could you possibly give that a thought?

Cheers!

Larry,

I appreciate and admire your stoicism; I really do.  First off, I know that having watched football for longer than Eluemunor has been on the planet, culture doesn't carry over from season to season.  It needs to be built each season, and frankly, losing 1000s of points in draft capital isn't worth the minor and perhaps meaningless "culture" for the 2024 season.

I try to maintain balance, though, for the benefit of people like yourself.  That is why I posted this.  I didn't care about it, but I try giving both sides an equal voice.

Sorry, Rich. I do appreciate your comments, but you are ducking the point. There is no reason why any of us should reject Eluemunor's sentiments except for our own petulance. As I admire your hard work, and often thankless effort in our behalf, I was disappointed to see you dismiss a rare positive explanation and thus appear to support the lame puppy whining and sobbing barks that now seem to characterize BBH and Giants fans in general.

If we can't muster a more positive less adenoidal attitude going forward, why should expect to see even marginal improvement, much less real competitiveness? Or is it that we always will have scapegoats, so why bother? No, we have to be better than that, and I'm sure we are.

Cheers!
