Quote from: MightyGiants on January 06, 2025, 08:49:56 AMI want to hear from Mara who is he holding ACCOUNTABLE for one of the worst seasons in team history.  This is why the team is bad-  Mara holds no one accountable for doing a good job.
Two thoughts on this:

1. The silver lining, if there is one, is that Schoen and Daboll are being treated as a package deal. If and when Daboll fails next season, Schoen will also get the boot. Fingers crossed at least.

2. I want no part of Sanders or Ward. No reason to bring them into a failing regime possibly going into its final season. My hope is for Travis Hunter. If Schoen trades up, I give up.

Rich,

Bravo! I support your feelings, life is too short!

Mara needs to demand accountability starting with the mirror. If he's going to change for the better, the first step is to own your behavior.

Let's go John! We're waiting!

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Yes, you do. As I did when I walked away from my seat license.

I am glad Mara has confidence in the process that has over 3 years brought the team to be tied for the worst record in the league.

His very vanilla game plan indicated to me at least, that he did not need to win or even tried to win the game , instead he was content to lose and keep at least the fourth pick and as it turned out they ended up with third pick.
Like I said prior , if they come out in first game next year and get demolished I hope Mara tech will have the balls to make a change during the season at some point if next year mimics this year.tough schedule or not .
Daboll has much to prove to me and I think many others that he is capable of getting a team to be competitive.
We will see.

I felt the same way yesterday. I felt he held back on a game he could have won.

After Schoen's less than honest Bye-Week presser, I am not all that confident that Schoen will not sacrifice the team's future for short-term gain/protect his job

Not surprised. That QB room has been a mess through various regimes. It would've been a cruel joke if they hung Daniel Jones on Schoen/Daboll.

Hell, ownership wasn't going to fire Judge until he opened his own mouth and got fired himself.

Hard to imagine a team as bad as the Giants the past two years staying the course. But that's the Giants. We fans will continue to suffer and suffer because of an inept owner. At least we have this sounding board so we all can commiserate together. It will be bad again next year. Count on it.

I take this decision as confirmation that a lot of the Jones debacle was Mara's meddling so he's holding himself accountable.  A lot of the circumstantial evidence pointed to that but this is pretty much a smoking gun to me. So he's going to let them pick their QB and see what happens but they have 1 year to prove they can do it.  That's it.  Another terrible season and I imagine both are gone.

Just like they gave Jones so many excuses when it was ultimately his lack of talent that sunk him, they are giving excuses to the dynamic duo of disaster.

I've shared these views previously and suggested that if they keep them, it's an implicit admission of such meddling.

So Mara is giving Schoen and Daboll a one year window to draft and develop a QB? That makes sense. It actually sounds like the typical Giants way.

Once Schoen is fired next year, the next GM candidate will have to tap dance and convince Mara that he loves the QB and is committed to making him work.

Rinse and repeat.

I know people say this, but I don't agree with this.  As Mike Lombardi has repeatedly said over the years (based on his sources inside the building), Mara doesn't hold people accountable.  Plus, other insiders have reported that Mara wants to try and maintain continuity.  Sacrificing accountability for continuity is on brand for John Mara.

In reality, the best thing to do is have he GM, HC, and New QB (if needed) all on the same schedule.  The problem with firing Schoen and Daboll next offseason is that another team will inherit their pick for QB.

If that's truly the case, I can see why someone with Lombardi's GM record would want the job.

I think the sheer volume of staffing turnover indicates otherwise.
