I'm genuinely excited about the possibilities at #3, though I'll admit I wasn't entirely convinced the Giants were going to select a quarterback at #1. The draft can be unpredictable, and while the need for a QB is clear, the situation this year is a bit more complex.

As for the veteran quarterback, I don't believe there will be one available who can make a meaningful impact. Therefore, I'm comfortable with focusing on strengthening other areas of our team and heading into next season with either a rookie or a below-average starter. This approach will help position us to secure our future franchise quarterback in 2026.  The Giants could sign Justin Fields and hope he flourishes.
Some are expecting Carr, Geno, and Cousins to potentially be cut and be free agents. In that scenario we could likely get a bridge for cheap.

And we'd be offering almost a guaranteed starting job. Gotta think that counts for something in terms of picking the QB we want.

Why not Fields if Wilson reups with the Steelers? He had career highs in completion percentage and passer rating on his limited action.

Fields is my thought.  He's young, mobile and I think not broken.  Maybe a another coach can get more out of him.

I'd like to see him in a running role with a downfield passing attack.  Love the idea that Tracy plus a QB become dual running threats.

We're very much aligned, Joe.

Steelers offense got better once Fields was replaced.  His physical attributes are great, but he isn't going to be a good NFL QB at this point.

If you thought Jones was a slow processor, watch Fields.

Somebody wrote recently that Abdul Carter would be a better pass rusher than Parsons.  If that's true, I would have no problem with him.  I would not take a DT that high unless we're talking another Dexter and they are super rare.  We can get an upgrade at the other DT later and/or free agency.

In terms of QB, not knowing much about college football, even if we took a QB in the 3rd round, it would be an upgrade in our QB room. It seems to this ignorant fan that the gap between the QB tiers is much narrower than past years

I'd rather have Fields than any of those QBs...

I brought up Fields shortly after the draft. Not much interest here. Funny how the views have changed.

Fields is a weapon for sure, but he's limited as a passer, and he gets hurt a lot. I view him as a perfectly sound short term solution but not a medium or long term one. And, were we to take him on, I would plan around a base case expectation that he will miss at least four games and be banged up/playing hurt in a few others.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on January 06, 2025, 06:15:07 PMEven if we draft Hunter/Johnson I'd want to sign a DJ Reed or Charvious Ward in FA to have corners set with Phillips in the nickel for the next 5 years.

What are your thoughts on Paulson Adebo?

If we signed a bridge QB and made
The wildcard would that be enough to bring back Daboll/Schoen?

Really really high on him and id like him as our number 2 next to hunter or Johnson.

I like Carter a lot but what about Mason Graham next to Dexter ? Some have compared him to Hutchinson but I am not that sure about that comparison.

I would say absolutely knowing how Mara views things. We're not the Chiefs. A Wild Card would be huge for this franchise.
