So winning that Colts game, while detrimental to the team as a whole, probably saved both their jobs?  That's some backwards logic.

There it is. Mara put himself in front of the cameras. He owned his decision. He admitted it is a gut-driven dice roll rather than logic. That is how many business, political and life decisions get made if we are honest. Mainly they do not work out too well but we can only all hope this is one of those moments when luck comes calling and makes him look like a genius in 12 months rather than the over-whelmed, exasperated and rather forlorn figure he just cut.
If you live your life as a pessimist you never really live your life at all.
