If they draft a QB and he turns out awesome, I bet most calling for their heads will act like they believed in them this whole time

I will be curious what happens when the QB doesn't turn out to be awesome (which seems likely in an off-season with limited free agent and draftable QB options) and keeping Schoen, and Daboll turns out to be a mistake.

They likely get fired and life goes on.

Assuming they didn't use 2026 draft capital in an effort to secure their jobs.  Then, the damage is more long-term.

Probably not a good way to get another job as a GM if you unreasonably mortgage the future to visibly save your own skin and it horribly blows up. Can't imagine that another owner will want to sign up for a guy like that.

andrew_nyGiants

All we need for a transition year is a QB able to quickly read his progressions and unafraid to throw the ball downfield.

Worse case, with AT back and a solid OL, who knows maybe we can get a QB who can hold it down for a season.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

See this is what's so frustrating for some of us. The Schoen and Daboll zealots are so flip and arrogant and don't seem to care what happens. The rest of us bleed blue and want the madness to end. We want to stop rewarding incompetence.

GMs are different than coaches.  You don't see nearly the number of recycled GMs as you see head coaches.

Even if Schoen plans on doing what it takes to save his job, future be damned, do you honestly believe he would tell people that?

That take is way off base, bro.

I'll address the legit point: stop rewarding incompetence.

The incompetence starts at the top with Mara's meddling and his nepotism. By bringing Schoen and Daboll back, he's acknowledged his role and hopefully he takes several steps back and let Schoen and Daboll succeed or fail on their own merits without his influence. Firing them doesn't change anything with regards to Mara putting his fingers in the pie.

In my experience, you can only take people at their word. Especially when engaging in speculation.

Sorry - the YouTube video won't play here so I can't address what it was supposed to mean.
