Such a mindset is potentially disastrous

Future can be short term.

Quote from: MightyGiants on January 06, 2025, 11:28:28 AMYup, watch Schoen trade away the team's future for a mediocre QB prospect

And if he does, it will remove any lingering doubt as to ownership meddling in the process

I wouldn't say that.  It's pretty clear Schoen and Daboll are on the hot seat.   Overpaying for a QB prospect seems like the best way for Schoen to keep his job beyond 2025.

Will you be dialling this back if he signs a free agent and takes the best non-QB at 3?

Seems to be a lot of speculation in a number of threads, when nobody has any idea what JS will do.

John Mara: "I have no idea what I'm doing. Please help!"

"Mara on the Daniel Jones contract: "We made a decision at the end of the '22 season based on how Daniel had played that we would sign him to that contract. I approved that and we live with the results."

The Giants are a business, and Mara in addition to being part owner is a successful corporate lawyer. Having been an Executive Recruiter, and at times doing business with members of the C suite I am familiar with corporate speak. Coupled with "we've done everything we could to screw up this kid"(the me and Dave G show) the above quote has a bunch of that speak. The first and second we is about the discussion whether or not to sign him, D&S said we would not have drafted him, Mara countered, the that is the two year compromise. Remember Mara lives in a very different reality. He is part owner of a team that despite failing misreably has increased in value 3.5X in the past ten years. That makes it much easier for him to take his medicine.

Mara has made it clear that Schoen and Daboll are on the hot seat-

As for a veteran free agent signing, which free agent QB do you believe can lead this bottom-five talented team to a winning record next season?

It's easy for John Mara to pay lip service about "being more upset than the fans" when the fans are the ones investing their time and money and Mara and Tisch are laughing all the way to the bank.

John Mara is such a nobody. Literally accomplished nothing in life on his own. He is a nepo baby who inherited power over this franchise from his father who was also a nepo baby. There is absolutely no reason for him to be Team President. None whatsoever. It's not a position he earned or deserves. He's a complete incompetent and nincompoop when it comes to football matters and in any other business, literally any other line of work, he'd be fired in a nanosecond. This franchise is just such a travesty.

No idea, I'm not paid millions of dollars to figure that out. But I'm sure neither the Bucs nor Vikings were overally enamoured with their starting QBs when it going to be Mayfield and Darnold - some here even claimed that Mayfield wouldn't even amount to the Jones deal. Things change, players thrive in new environments all the time

To be writing off next season, when a single personnel move is yet to be made, seems like madness to me.

But everyone is entitled to their thoughts and feelings on the matter. Not everyone has to like every decision the Giants make and convince others that their point of view is correct or that holding the opposing view makes you a "hater".

I'm genuinely excited to see what the off season brings. And frankly, I just don't see it getting any worse.

3-13 and losing to the Eagles scrubs in the final game (while also blowing their chance for the first pick in the draft).  I am not sure it's possible (or at least reasonably feasible) to get worse.  I have been following the team for over 40 years.  This past season was the worst I can remember.

The thing with QB reclamation projects is you need a great coach and a talented roster.   When a failed QB goes to another weak team, they don't play better (as witnessed by both examples tanking with the Panthers prior to their success)

Flacco...  /sarcasm/

Darnold, Mariota, Lock. Those are the ones which would potentially be the ones I'd look at.

Unless they decide to give Wilson a one year deal. That would potentially be a gamble, but cap wise a calculated one.

Would allow to see if Manning would declare in 2026.
