I don't see darnold as a real option financially, and Russell Wilson because he's trash now.

I'd take Brissett, Dalton, Jimmy G(who spent the last year with Mcvey), and probably even Lance before Fields because we are going to end up in the same situation with a qb that can't through down the field. If we go bridge qb then at least give me someone that'll chunk it.
The price on Darnold went down significantly.  People were expecting him to get ~3 years around $30MM per.  Not happening.  He may be available in the $10-15MM range.

While I am someone who has looked favorably at obtaining Fields, I am mindful of this.

The Bears moved on from Fields.  With the first pick, that is understandable.  However, only getting a 6th-round pick (it became a 4th-rounder if he played 51% of the snaps) showed what the QB-needy league thought of Fields.

Now, the only way Fields becomes a free agent is if the QB-needy Steelers decide not to sign him before the start of the regular free agency period.  So the well-run Steelers would have gotten a full season to evaluate Fields and decided he wasn't worth retaining.

Jess,

Technically, DeVito is not yet back.   He's an exclusive rights free agent, so the Giants control his destiny, but they do have to sign him if they want him back.

I'm on board with a bridge QB. I want Hunter or a trade down. We have so many holes everywhere, and this isn't the draft for a QB high.

Rich,

I think people have interest because of physical gifts. He is a big bodied, very athletic guy with above average arm strength.

He makes some "wow" highlight type plays with some regularity.

At this point I have serious doubts that he will ever get close to reaching the potential of those physical attributes.  I get the idea that if you get him cheap and somehow can get him past whatever the mental blocks are you have an elite QB.  Signing him is buying a lottery ticket.
