I think Schoen said one thing early in the negotiations (we want you here, you can test the market etc.) but then turned around and said "we may or may not match or pay you more". I just think that Schoen overplayed his hand, pokered and lost.

Quote from: Messiah717 on January 19, 2025, 06:32:09 PMThe KC games are unwatchable.

The Commies were favored by some questionable calls as well...

In both Saturday games, there were blatant officiating mistakes / missed calls that made the games shift to one way or another massively.

KC had 2 calls in their favor which helped them massively.
The missed call on Jared Goff for unnecessary roughness / personal foul was equally blatant.

It seems with officiating that the more help you give them (video reviews etc.) the worse it gets. It is the same in 'soccer' (football to a Brit like me) with VAR. if you think NFL officials are bad try watching the English Premier League! Mr. Magoo must be our Head of Refereeing.
If you live your life as a pessimist you never really live your life at all.

Absolutely.
Jeez, no way can I enjoy the SB if Philthy is in it.
Smell my cheese you mother!

Did anyone notice a play late in the Buffalo game where the runner ran out of bounds near the end of the 4th and the clock kept running?
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

"We're going to build this thing the right way... I'm not going to do a Hail Mary for self preservation. We've got a plan in place and we're going to stick with that"

-Giants GM Joe Schoen on potential roster plans and spending for the 2025 season.

You know, folks, regarding Barkley. Maybe the guy was ready to move on from all the losing and try out what it would be like to play for a winning team with a "real" offensive line.

Maybe his mind was already made up that he was gone; lest Shoen was planning to mortgage the farm all the way down to his best dairy cow. At least that was the vibe I was getting as soon as season 2023 ended.

The rest is sour grapes. Get over it!!! In spite of everything, they were on the ropes last night and held on for the final bell. All that in spite of Barkley's TD runs. They mattered little in the final analysis for the Giants and it mattered little last night as the Rams bounced right back and scored after them.

The Iggles survived that one with considerable battle scars which start with Hurts' left knee hyperextension. That'll be the talk of the week but many others got banged up as well.

In both games, I can't recall teams hitting their opponents as hard as they had yesterday. Good, old, knock-em, sock-em, bam, slam, no holds barred smash-mouth style ball. That AFC Divisional Playoff would have made John Madden smile.

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

You can get over Barkley leaving by many Giants are not over it like my own Dad who wants the Eagles to win it all to stick it to Mara. I won't even talk to him about football anymore.
