Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on January 24, 2025, 01:53:08 PMI am getting envious of the new hires , GM and Coach and new assistants by teams and the excitement that it generates, ( see , read and listen to the Bears fans and sports writers ) and we Giant fans are stuck with the same inefficient  GM who instituded one of the stupidest transaction in Giant history, and a coach who calls offensive plays the same way Elmer Fudd would call them , is stubborn and has a difficult relationship with some of his assistants .

Are you aware that we interviwed Alex Peters , the new GM of the Commanders and we chose the un qualified Joe Schoen.

Is there any feeling of excitement in Giant fans ; maybe only that pitchers and catchers are reporting to Spring Training in a few weeks ?

Dave
Were you not excited when our current regime was hired?
There is always hope when a new regime comes in. We have been thru this many times in the past 10 years. But how many of these new hope regimes really work out. How many fans of those teams will be crying for a new regime in a couple of years?
It is the nature of the beast.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Yes I was excited when Schoen and Daboll were hired but now I have seen their production or lack of it . We made the wrong hire with Joe Schoen, now knowing that Alex Peters was interviewed and we chose Schoen To quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman , " Big Mistake , Huge Mistake " !!! Brian Daboll it turns out was not a great hire either.

I understand now that Ben Johnson and Mike Vrabel were not going to take the Giants job if Daboll was let go. I cannot come up right now with a replacement I would have to think about it . I am not that familiar with potential GM candidates either. All I know to keep a GM who was responsible for one of the biggest blunders in Giants football history and someone whose first two drafts are virtual busts just shows how dysfunctional this team is.

Looking at next year's schedule , probably the most difficult in the league , is very discouraging . If we go 6-11 are supporters of Daboll and Schoen going to advocate that we keep then for another year?

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on January 25, 2025, 09:32:51 PMHe was a good OC with the Bills and that would get him a job. I just do not think that he was an effective play caller for the Giants . When you go 3-14 there is something wrong. We are too far removed from the season for me to give you a specific instance . If you think that Daboll is an excellent and superb play caller I will respect your opinion.

I guess the bottom line is we have to wait until the 2025 season unfolds. He will have his QB whether it is through FA or the draft or both and see how he does. My hope is that he gives up play calling and let's his OC , whomever that may be , call the plays and he should be concentrating on being a HC for the entire team. He will never be an Andy Reid no matter how much he thinks he is now .

What more can a playcaller do, across all 32 teams regardless of where, besides scheme receivers to be wide open, alongside also having a promising rookie RB who had 1100 yds and 6 TD from scrimmage?

What do you think he should call or do that he or a different OC, that he isn't?

Should receivers get even more open than they already are? This isn't CFB

The QB was far and away their biggest issue, Kurt Warner saw it and gave plenty of examples on national TV showing it, the same stuff many saw all season long up to that point. It was pointed out by reporters, tweets, announcers plenty time over.

If you do a terrible job at your place of employment, should you be excused and the person you report to be scapegoated for it and fired?

You love Brian Daboll and probably think he is the second coming of Andy Reid . If A team goes from 9 wins to 6 wins to 3 wins and is considered the worst team in the NFL , then, " something is rotten in the state of Denmark " In the final game of the season the Eagles played with their third string QB and virtually practice team players yet their play calling was better than ours .

Here is a question for you , should Daboll continue as the offensive play caller or should he have his OC , whomever that might be  call them and Daboll concentrate on coaching the team ?

I LOVED the Daboll hire and all the positive energy that came with him.

The issue is - the man who went for the 2 point conversion on opening day for the win and the guy who embraced NY attitude getting the crowd going at Ranger playoff games is long gone.

The question is - will he resurface?

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on January 24, 2025, 07:06:54 PMI understand what you are saying , but going into a game with your kicker having a groin issue and not having another kicker on the squad shows how unqualified he is . Do you agree that there were games that the team was just not prepared and that falls on Daboll?

Do you feel excited for next year ?

Is that loss that could have easily been a W with a able kicker, on Daboll or on Schoen?
