Go back to any SB Giants team and you could rattle off 9-10 good players, not average players.

Now we are so far from that.  Good players might be 2.  How sad is that?

We had position groups with 2-3 good players.

We also had most importantly DEPTH.  A Bill Neill would be there to step in for Jim Burt.

It is unfathomable to me how far we are from being a 12-5 team.  I see folks here say we're a QB away.  I could not disagree more.

You don't think we are on par with the commanders minus the Qb spot? The Texans and Commanders have an elite qbs like Cincy that raises everyone's game around them. Imo there are only a handful of teams with elite talent all over the field, KC, Buffalo, Philly, and Detroit.

Go check twitter (I don't know how to link it) but Thibs is in the middle of a cat fight with Dez.

Thibs should get off social media and get in the weight room.

Next season is make or break for him.

Actually, Bill Neill was supposed to be the one to develop into a star player. He had a great season in 1981; however, he suffered a debilitating knee injury and opened the door for Jim Burt to have his opportunity, which he cashed in.

To your other point, the team MUST improve both its talent and depth quality. It is very obvious and without doing so the Giants will remain on par with their mid to late 1970s counterparts. Some good players, but unable to compete for 60 minutes as a team.

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

You don't think they'll pick up the fifth year option on him?

While he has been disappointing, I'd be very surprised if they didn't.

I think they will pick up the option...I should've said "resign" him after the option

Listing a team's top 10 players and comparing that list with other teams is an excellent gauge of talent, in my opinion.   In a bubble, every team seems to have talent.  It's when you compare to other teams that one gets a sense of how good or bad your team really is.

PFF has an aggregate grade for a team's total grade.  The Giants were ranked 29th with a 68.5.  To give a sense of how far off the pace, the Giants really are

1)  Lions- 93.5
5) Chargers- 89.5
10) Rams- 86.2

Needless to say, the two Super Bowl teams are among the top 10.  The Eagles are 3 with a 93.4 and the Chiefs 6 with a 89.7.

Jess - I think Rich's post above about team aggregate PFF scores answers you perfectly.  Malik Nabers may be our best player and a good one at that.  Commanders have Terry McLaurin, probably just as good.  Our list of good gets quiet fast after that.
