I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

I don't know that she says anything new in the article that we haven't been already discussing for months.

Pat campaigned to keep Schoen and Daboll.  So, frankly, I don't think she knows what's best for the team.   To her actual plan, she starts off by suggesting the team borrow heavily from future cap years to spend like drunken sailors this year (ala 2016).  I don't think that's a wise plan at all.  This team is nowhere near ready to compete, and until this team is competitive, they should adopt a spend-as-you-go cap management strategy.

"Draft better" is an important point. Why didn't I think of that one?

Spot on Rich:

Kicking can down road for a 3 win type team makes no sense.  We are not close getting over the top because no QB, poor OL and inadequate depth.  Fixing those 3 is not a 1 offseason fix.

Everyone knows we have no OL depth.  How about DL as play drops significantly when Dex goes out.  RB depth after Tracy?  We can keep going with other position groups.

Giants hit on 2024 draft.  They need to do that 2 more times plus make the right calls on pending FAs.  Lot to accomplish

Can't fix everything in one year with one draft and free agents. Team must prioritize

Priority one: QB with the uncanny and innate ability to win (it's the attitude and personality, not a physical specimen or bazooka for an arm - think Brady, Mahomes, etc...they have physical limitations, but they just know how to win...it's innate to them)
Priority two: Stud RT and improved OG
Priority three: toss up between CB / DL
The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

I think of we can get decent qb play, solid line play, and good cb1 play we could be an 8 win team easy and that's without anything great or elite, just solid.

Agreed.  It depresses me to see fans already calling next season a complete wash and being so dismissive of roster movement that can actually move us ahead.  Our cap situation, along with some decent QB play, allows us to actually take some steps forward next year.

Agreed, plus some of the opposing teams are bound to decline. Anything can happen.

@MrGap92 and @PSUBeirut

List the top 10 players on the Giants roster, and compare that to the top 10 of any of the playoff teams.  You will see it's more than just QB that is lacking.

The other thing to remember is the Giants are not the only team that drafts more players or signs players in free agency.   The challenge is to be BETTER than other teams at drafting and playing the free agency game.

As for our division, I don't see an Eagles swoon anytime soon, and it looks like Washington is going to be a contender for the foreseeable future.

I feel like this kinda reinforces PSUs point

Not one team has acquired any talent yet. They just had a great draft, we have seen Washington and Houston in recent years go from zero to hero. No reason we can't be next.

But, that isn't what we said. There is a difference from becoming elite overnight, and taking steps forward like what was actually said. Everyone knows the roster needs works, not one person denies that

You said it is a challenge, and I would agree with that, but were still a few months away from that challenge even beginning. No one has failed or succeeded yet in the 2025 offseason.

In my opinion, the three most important positions (and also the hardest to fill) are:

General Manager
Head Coach (and staff)
Quarter Back

Of those three, the Giants

GM-  is questionable at best and I think the majority of people thought he deserved to be fired

Head Coach-  While he has a COTY award, he has an overall poor record, some questionable coaching decisions and some serious issues with his coaching staff

Quarterback-  none

As I said, look at the top 10 players as a good gauge for overall roster talent

They are lacking there as well.

In this draft and free agency, they have better than average draft capital and salary cap, but neither is elite or special

In the case of Houston they changed head coach, drafted a franchise QB, and added a ton of quality players in that same draft and via free agency.  Washington drafted an elite QB, also changed their GM, and added a ton of players via free agency and the draft, along with a new coach and owner.

One guy, even the QB, doesn't make that big of a dent.  If it did, the Chargers wouldn't have struggled the first few years with Herbert. The Bears and the Pats wouldn't have worse records after acquiring their franchise QB.

You need at least a franchise QB to win and compete, but there is so much more a team needs, and we really haven't seen any indication the Giants have the rest of the formula outside of QB

Agreed. And it's a real shame. I've started checking in here fewer times each day/week.

As I say, it's a shame but I don't need such negative speculation, because that's all it is, in my life.

I've never been overly impressed with any of Patti's work.
