I'm not sure what you said here but here goes my response.  I think you have it exactly backwards.  And, I have rooting for the Giants since 1956 and Eli is my favorite Giant since then.  Benching Eli was the right move.  We needed a QB with some mobility and Geno had that. McAdoo knew what he was doing.  Instead, fans who didn't understand how bad we were with a porous OL and an immobile QB were in an uproar and fan boy Mara stupidly meddled as is his wont and the rest is history.  We stunk until we got lucky (and smart) in 22 and are paying for that brief moment of success since then.

Apologies if I read your post wrong and went off on this rant.

I agree with your points.  I used the outrage as an example of the media whipping up the fans in a frenzy of anger that forced Mara to do something.  I wasn't saying that particular move was a good one.  Although, I don't think either Jerry Reese or Ben McAdoo have proven their firing wrong.

Thank you MG.  I understand.  To go off topic for a second, is there any information about Jerry Reese currently and what he's doing now.  I don't think he connected to any pro team currently which, unless he chose to not partake, is an amazing statement of how far he fell.

Currently, I hear he wants nothing to do with football.  I believe a few years back he took an interview or two, but nothing came of them.

While I think there is some value in what they learn in school, to me, the bigger thing is that school acts as a way to measure a person's intelligence and work ethic.  I think that for a team to be successful, they should be hiring the best and the brightest.

Hi Rich.

As you have worked on management, I respect your opinion on the matter.

As a professional in Aerospace & Defense for three and a half decades, I understand the big wigs have their degrees from their fancy universities, but it is clear as day there remains a continental divide between "them" and "us."

"Them" appeases the shareholders, has access to the "country club," along with the board members, and talks a good talk to the worker-bees, but then forgets what they said a year later and a case of "promises made, promises broken" becomes the norm.

"Us" are the workers, technical leaders, first line managers who all aspire to make the company something far better than the constraints that are the heads of the company.

Such is the daily plight in Corporate America. Whether we talk about a Fortune 500 company, or an NFL organization in the midst of a streak of bad performance years, to have personnel blessed with an education to do good is a gift. But when it is wasted on greed, at the expense of a workforce diligently trying to do the right thing, I must ask in good faith, what good is that piece of paper, anyway?

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)
