At this point, I am hearing the Giants are out on Stafford.  Personally, I think they were never "in" and that it was just another fake rumor from BBI (who is based on fake insiders) that all the media ran with because it's a quiet time for football news.

The current rumor is the Giants trading up to the number one spot to ensure they get the QB of their choice. This one sounds plausible.

If the Giants are as keen at QB evaluation as Schoen claims (it's easy to say you nailed all your QB evaluations when you didn't actually draft one or show your cards), I am hard pressed to think they would pick Sanders over Ward (going back to Schoen's brag, where was your QB evaluation skills when you signed Daniel Jones?).  One thing I found interesting, Ward and Sanders did their pressers at the same time.  Almost all the Giants beat writers favored Sanders over Ward (since they could only attend one)

There doesn't seem to be a whisper about Dart and the Giants.

Another interesting rumor/speculation was Garafolo suggested the reason the Giants passed on JJ last year was that they didn't believe he could handle the NY media market.

The Giants QB situation would be exactly the same regardless who the GM/HC are.

Geez, just get Ward. If not Ward then draft Hunter, sign a Vet QB as backup, and draft a tier 2 guy Day 2 or Day 3

I'd take Rodgers on a one year rental over Winston, Fields, Ward, or Sanders. Save assets and go all in on 2026 without having to trade by giving up assests, and pay for Stafford, Darnold etc.

At least Rodgers gives us a chance, that Winston, Mariota, Garrapolo etc don't.

Wait, JJ couldnt handle NY?  He grew up in a suburb of Chicago, played at IMG then at Michigan all the way to National Championship.  What part of that sounds like he is a country bumpkin?  People think or say such stupid things (not you).

Mike Garafolo was one of the most connected Giants beat reporters in the day and he is still better connected than the current crop.

There was a comment Schoen made about the QB needing to be able to handle the pressure, and it sounded like Schoen was referring to a prospect with talent that he didn't think could handle the pressure. Garafolo speculated it was JJ.  Based on who NYG passed on, it just as easily could have been Nix or Penix.

I think you and I where on the same page with Jones and I also agree with this.  What's the risk??  It's an upgrade over what we have had and it doesn't prevent us from a high pick next year like Stafford would.  Would be entertaining until the ship turns around.

Trading with Tennessee is asinine from what I have heard about these QBs. Sounds like overdrafting to save Schoen's job and we will be looking for a QB again in 2 years.

Quote from: Rinaken on February 28, 2025, 12:50:06 PMAm I the only one who doesnt want to trade for a QB, sign a QB to megadeal (Darnold) or take Ward/Sanders in the first round?

Welcome!

No, you're not! I actually want the Giants to fix both the offensive and defensive lines this offseason (NOTE: offensive line being the top priority).

I actually want them to either get the BPA at pick three, or trade down and pick up as much draft capital as possible and go all-in for their franchise QB in 2026.

This draft lends them an opportunity to build depth on an otherwise generally weak roster so  maximize that opportunity without getting sucked into this whole QB illusion that's going on. They'll eventually sign their bridge QB and that's that.

Build the roster up and bring the franchise QB in next year. Keep saying that over and over until that becomes the plan and it's buried deep in the dark matter.

Peace!

Whether it is Dabs or someone else that's ridiculous.

Maybe not a bad idea.  Does not cost any draft picks.  Load up.

If we are looking to just tank next season then, by all means, sign Rodgers. He couldn't play behind the Jets OL so what makes anyone think he can play behind ours?
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.
