Just curious, does anyone have a pick that nobody in the media or here on this board has mentioned?  I'll throw one out there - Membou, the ORT from Missouri.  For some reason, I feel like OL can be the surprise area.  Low probability and I mean LOW but OL has been a problem.  Draft and play Membou at ORT and move JE to RG where he I think prefers to play.  All of a sudden the weakest group outside of QB just got two positions improved.

Will Johnson, if he is fully physically cleared. He is a better CB than Hunter.

That's a fantastic call.  Nobody has mentioned him and healthy he is better.  Fills a huge hole.

london: IMO, two diff types of CB, so who's better is a tough call. Depends what defense you're running. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Bob - I disagree.  WJ is equally adept in MTM or zone.  He gets slightly more of his INTs in zone as he reads the QB well but he gets plenty in MTM.

London - after thinking more, I think WJ is much more likely than not.  Folks undervalue him because of his injury for last half of 2024 season.  Pro teams won't.  It would not surprise me.

It would be tough to stomach having three top seven picks on the offensive line while other position groups have struggled as much over the past five years.

Is Will Johnson really an "out of the box" pick? I thought he was viewed as a consensus top 3 non QB prospect in this draft.

Completely fair point.  Just think outside QB it crashes hard as a group.  Offense is not the strength early in the draft.

You may not recall (or missed my posts), but Will was my original pick as best CB in this draft.  Also, he has always been among my top five players, along with a guy few (if any) experts have mentioned for the Giants - Tyler Warren.

Hunter is more disruptive to a short passing game.  Will is a bulldog who can stay with, outfight & stuff even the best "bulldog" style WR's (like A J Brown).

That may make him better for the Giants (for instance) but some teams play defenses that take away home runs and force the opponent to run short passing attacks. Will is better for teams that emphasize man coverage. Hunter is the better zone guy.

So take your pick. Either way you get a great player.

I don't particularly like Bowen, but IMO Hunter is better for his style of defense. If we still had Wink, I'd want Will Johnson. Also, he's better for stopping the number-one WR's of the Eagles and Cowboys, but Hunter would be better against the Redskins. It's really just two very good players.

Got it.  Thanks Bob

We go from Outside the Box to "better than" assuming we're talking about a CB at 3 as opposed to the alternatives brought about by either or both chance and/or choice.

Okay then, but if not an issue of personal bias- a doubtful ask for the framer of the question, at least- the comparisons do so on their own without deciding it. Without any emphasis on the potential added benefit of multi-positional Defensive/ Offensive versatility, do we otherwise view either one as not a full value choice at 3 overall?

Cheers!

Larry: Great question. My reply is that I personally view Hunter as a can't-miss full-value pick because he can do (IMO) one-and-one-half NFL jobs.  Full-time CB, and (at worst) 4th WR. It's almost like getting an extra 3rd-round pick. Bob

Bob - a 3 pick has to be more than that.  I think to justify Hunter he has to be a near Pro Bowl player at one position say at CB and a WR2 otherwise I'd rather have Will Johnson at CB who I strongly believe will be a Pro Bowl player/All Pro type player.

Phil: Your criteria are mine as well. The difference is that I see them as about equal at CB. Bob
