Quote from: madbadger on March 27, 2025, 11:56:06 AMSkattebo is an immature child who seriously injured a teammate by being reckless and is now getting sued for it. There a ton of good backs in this draft. No need to take a 22 year old who acts like he's 13. That juice isn't worth the squeeze.

I posted the information.  I am sorry, but this is the sort of thing that would be filed under boys will be boys (especially young men who are paid to play a game for a living) rather than some sort of indication of a character flaw or shortcoming.

You missed the reports that the teammate didn't intend to sue him initially but added him to the suit when he found out that Skattebo was making fun of the kid and his injury to teammates. You end a kids career, cause him to have to undergo reconstructive surgery and then treat it like a joke. No thanks. Don't want that on my roster when there are guys just as good who'll be available in the second or third round.

I couldn't find any reference to insults or mockery.  How did you obtain that information?

Maybe if you provided the source like the "rest of us" typically do when we mention things or bring new topics of discussion up....

I don't have unlimited time through the day to post stuff here. A quick google search would have answered your question.

It's in the lawsuit. It was posted on Reddit. Don't know if it's still there.

MG did, found nothing.

I tried, also nothing

Doesn't seem to be a thing that exists anywhere, not saying you made it up, but wherever you saw it, does not appear to have any credibility.

It seems more likely he was added to the suit because it appears the RB is in for a big payday

QuoteSkattebo wasn't named in the original complaint, which was made in May 2024. However, it has been amended twice – most recently on Jan. 27, 2025 – when Skattebo was added as a defendant.

At the time, Skattebo was just two weeks removed from a breakout senior season at Arizona State, during which he ran for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns while leading the Sun Devils to a College Football Playoff berth. He is expected to be selected during the 2025 NFL draft, and potentially early on in it.

Udulutch insisted the timing of Skattebo's addition to the lawsuit was merely coincidental.

"I'm aware of the speculation and how that looks, but I can't comment on the rationalization," Udulutch told The Republic. "All I can say is that we became aware that it was actually him that was on the back of the golf court, jumping up and down, according to my client."

The guy making the statement is the plaintiff's lawyer

It is a great draft to get a very good RB in Rounds 3 and later. No need for Jeanty early in the 1st!
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!

It was a dumb-a$$ thing to do and there's definitely cause and effect which ties Katergaris' injury to the incident and action Skattebo took by jumping repeatedly on the back of the cart which was clearly marked "Maximum two people ride, 600 pound capacity."

Because the incident happened on ASU property, the University is most definitely liable. But I believe the civil suit against Skattebo is to capture funds for medical and related bills not paid for by the university, as well as pain and suffering.

Because ASU was ultimately liable, as it was their grounds, their football program and, logically, their cart, unless Arizona law provides a precedence a player can sue another while both signed agreements with the University to play football under their terms and conditions, which undoubtedly have statements on liability, I'm struggling to understand the legal precedent on which they bring this case forward. I feel for the young man, and can empathize what it is like to not have an extremity work you like it once had (i.e. my own left leg after six surgeries, bills), but the University did provide care and the real argument is whether the plaintiff can prove negligence on the medical staff, which required them seeking medical attention outside ASU, or can ASU play the "Patient Not Compliant" game.

As for Skattebo, the incident was a dumb, stupid thing young jock straps do and he should have been punished by the University at the time. Maybe he was and that will eventually come out. But I do find the timing of the ammendment of the lawsuit peculiar, not being disrespectful to the plaintiff, but unless there was discovery which provided them a path to sue Skattebo directly, and they only discovered it recently, then the timing is indeed interesting.

Note this incident was two years ago and its impact must have scared his a$$ straight because he's been a model citizen out here since.

If the court eventually finds him liable, then good for Katergaris because he and his family should never have been put in a position of having to file a lawsuit in the first place. Regardless, even if they dismiss the case on Skattebo, ASU needs to pick up the tab for all medical bills at a bare minimum. It doesn't matter if the kid was a walk-on. He was part of that team and deserved to be treated as such. It's unfortunate that he has had no other recourse but to go this route to be given that respect he justly earned.

Like or hate Skattebo, the law will adjudicate this matter. Cam has to live with the consequences for his actions the rest of his life and all the NFL money in the world won't change that.

Whether the Giants pick him or not, he's going to have a career in the NFL and, if he can successfully reconcile this issue from his past, he should have no problem becoming a key back for an NFL team.

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

If the Giants traded back to 6 or 7, would they consider Jeanty?

Not if Schoen wants to keep his job or extend it beyond the 1st round!
