What are you hearing around the league on what the Giants will do at No. 3?

Miller: I'm hearing quarterback, even after signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal. A scout told me, "New York loving Shedeur is the worst-kept secret in the league right now." According to that scout, the Giants had a presence at every Colorado home game this season. The Wilson and Jameis Winston deals shouldn't prevent the Giants from drafting a quarterback at No. 3 if one of the top two passers is available. But should Ward and Sanders both be off the board, the Giants will be a premier destination for Colorado's Travis Hunter, given the team's needs at wide receiver and cornerback.

Reid: Yeah, based on what I'm hearing from sources, finding a young QB is still at the top of the priority list for the Giants. Wilson and Winston help the team cover its bases if Ward and Sanders are not on the board, but signing them doesn't necessarily keep New York from drafting a QB.

As Matt pointed out, the team could pivot to Hunter or Penn State's Abdul Carter with its pick. General manager Joe Schoen was aggressive in addressing the team's secondary issues by signing cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland in free agency. Hunter could get into the mix, while also pairing well with wide receiver Malik Nabers for a dynamic duo on the perimeter on offense.

Yates: I think we're all in agreement, though the Giants taking a QB is much less certain now than it was a few days ago. Does the team believe that it has done enough to address its need at quarterback long term? It's just really hard to imagine that's the case given the one-year length of Wilson's deal.

Their contract lengths are the definition of bridge and certainly not long term.

Also what the Giants did from September to December going to Shedeur's games has little relevance to their current situation now that they have W and W.

I think it's worth noting that it appears that much of the information about the scouting from the Giants is coming from Colorado.  I would think that Deion Sanders had a vested interest (in terms of helping his son) in broadcasting the Giant's strong interest in his son.

So, while we know that the Giants heavily scouted Sanders, there's a good chance they were heavily scouting the other top QB prospects as well.  I would say it amounts to scouting malpractice if Schoen decided he liked one prospect a lot and focused more scouting efforts on him rather than scouting all the prospects to determine who he liked best.

I don't know what the Giants plan is now that they have signed both Wilson & Winston, but after watching clips of Abdul Carter last night, all I can think is they passed on Micah Parsons a few years back, please don't make that kind of mistake again. I hope Carter is the pick at #3.
I have a feeling he will be a game wrecker and I would love for the Giants defense to become feared again.

I don't see the Giants passing on either Carter or Hunter for Sanders. They didn't pass on Nabers to take McCarthy, who was/ is better than Sanders, and last year's QB room was worse than the current one. Second or third round for a QB and pray that Wilson can win more than 5 games so they have a chance to keep their jobs.

Did some of you see Bobby's Breakdown of Sanders. I thought it belied quite the hype about Sanders' process..getting confused in his reads..at times..and clearly holding onto the ball too long. And his arm is accurate but slightly above average. Mobility limited..although he's shown ability to side step rushers..but will not escape against pros. Has to process faster with the ball.

I think he's a good prospect with a high floor. But not special I'd stay with either Hunter or Carter

The reports of the Giants loving Sanders could very well be intended to drive him up so Dart is not taken before they pick. So before any of you thinking that there is no way that Dart is in the conversation at the top three, or make any definitive statements about when these QBs go off, let me remind you of a couple of things.

The League is exhausted with the crop of Journeymen QB's that either are floating or may even be in place as starters. Carr will never be the answer at QB for the Saints or any team. Neither are Levis, Murray, Young, Mariota, Taylor, Garoppolo, Trubisky, and the rest of the bunch. The league knows what they have in them. They can be a backup QB at best.

QB is by far THE most important position, and it's well worth a 1st round pick or high second to take a chance. With some teams, they hope it's rare that they pick in the top five. When the opportunity is there, they have to strike or be left behind.

McCord, Howard, Ewers, Shough, Leonard, and Gabriel are going to be viewed as developmental QB prospects. Remember when future Hall of Fame HC Bill Belichick drafted Mac Jones at the 15th selection? It was rumored that the Niners would pick him much earlier. He went to the Pro Bowl, and made the Writers All-Rookie team. He even had some success before the league figured him out. McCord, Howard, Ewers, Shough, Leonard, and Gabriel all have the potential to be at least as good as him or viewed by some team to be a good backup that can possibly be developed into a starter.

The fact is that there are just too many variables to be able to say without a doubt if the players will be a good starter or not. And many times the Teams don't know any better than we do.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

I really can't wait for this draft so this is all settled.  It's all just guess work, unless Shefter reports it in my opinion.  Couldn't The Giants have also been scouting Hunter at the Colorado games??  How is that not mentioned?

The QB signings are immediate upgrades and short term, that seems like a way to get to 2026 for a young QB and take a game changer at 3 this spring.  Sanders would be a terrible pick in my opinion.  If he is the pick at 3 I will support him and hope I'm wrong.  But I think it would be another mistake.

It's not mentioned until now. You beat me to it! I feel exactly as you do.

Peace!

Is there any reason to assume that while the Giants were following Colorado around all year they weren't also looking at Travis Hunter?  Every time I hear that, especially post Wilson signing, I think maybe they were also just as in on Hunter as they were Sanders.  Before Wilson, I would say Sanders would be the likely pick.  Post Wilson...I think it's unlikely.  Especially if Hunter is there.

I want Hunter - as a CB, with some WR plays mixed in.  With the FA additions we've made to the secondary and our young DBs maturing, this could be one of the best secondaries in the league for years to come.
