I like Shedeur and he seems like a good guy, but it is presumptuous to think that he is going to the Giants. He may be quite disappointed if the Giants don't take him, or if he gets drafted by the Browns with the 2nd pick.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 01, 2025, 11:49:29 AMTrue, but that was a different management team
and the current management team doesn't let anyone know what is going on at all and is hard to read pre draft.

I doubt they suddenly are letting Sanders vocally declare to the world their intentions.

We shall see.

It would suck top get a guy who is barley top 20 at the 3 pick just because he is a QB

McShay says that based on what he is hearing, Sanders could take quite the tumble down the board, if the Giants don't draft him.  So perhaps, much like the talk with Dart, the Giants could trade back up into the 1st round and draft Sanders around 20, like this mock draft did.

Can anyone who knows the point system conjure up what it would cost to move from 34 to 20?

As an aside, I read somewhere or heard on a podcast that Coach Prime has been talking to Mara.  He does not talk to Schoen  I don't know how true that is but, if it is, I hope that he hasn't heard the Giants plans directly from the boss.

34, 65, 154 for 20 more or less on the Rich Hill model or 35, 154, 2026 2nd but as always it depends on demand and supply. It is a high price unless you have a really strong conviction. If your conviction is that strong why not take them at 3, keep the other picks and build the roster?

I struggle to see that big a conviction on eg Dart, Milroe, Ewers, McCord, et al. It is such a mundane cast. If we do not take a QB at 3 I personally favour staying patient and taking whoever we thinks fits us best and is value at 65/99/105.

I agree. I just don't think this is the year to force a QB pick in any round. If a QB falls to a level at which we perceive his value to be compelling, then by all means pull the trigger, but our QB room as it stands right now is probably already better than it has been in a solid decade. That should not be lost on these guys. Obviously, that doesn't mean it's set up for the future, but the point is that we have a lot of needs and can't afford to take a blind, early round shot at a QB we don't believe to be a very compelling pick. I am at least 90% certain next year's QB class will be substantially better. I appreciate that we may not be picking third or higher next year, but that does not mean we should make an early round move we don't truly believe in this year. Wilson/Winston are more than capable of providing stability and some leadership at the position until we figure out our long term answer.

I wish I could like this post 3x.

Yeah, I feel like we're moving in the right direction, just don't do something stupid.

I would be surprised if the Giants do not take Hunter or Carter at three and take a QB instead. I think they have 2-3 QB in the same range and will move up or stay and pick a QB in round two.

I agree Ed. I think signing two veterans points towards them not taking a QB in the high first round.

Same with their actions in the recent past. If you're in love with Shedeur and know you have a pretty good chance of getting him, why make a huge effort to trade for Matt Stafford and then subsequently put in a significant effort to get Rodgers? Both looked like bona fide attempts. If you're dead set on Shedeur being the guy, I just don't see how you do either, and I frankly don't even see why you'd sign two veterans. Would the plan be to carry three QBs on the roster? I doubt that. I realize they could just cut Winston but it all doesn't really add up for me.

I expect them to take a defensive player third overall, and I'm totally good with that.

andrew_nyGiants

I wouldn't be shocked if they waited until the third round to take a QB.
Especially if they view this class as not having a sure franchise QB.
They need as many quality players as they can find.
