Jaxson Dart rushing numbers compared to the top 10 ranked QB's in this class:

Attempts: 100 (3rd)
Scrambles: 45 (2nd)
Yds/Attempt: 6.5 (1st)
Yds after contact/attempt: 3.12 (3rd)
Missed tackles forced: 22 (3rd)
Runs of 10+ yards: 28 (2nd, Milroe had 30)

Jalen Milroe, Riley Leonard and Dart alternate in a lot of these rankings

Who is Jaxson Dart? Former Giants head coach Joe Judge told me this morning after sitting with his Ole Miss QB during Thursday's NFL Draft party inside a Minky Couture outlet in Ogden, Utah.

"Very sincere. Very genuine. One of the most instinctive players I've ever been around. Legit tough."

What struck Judge most — as his former team tabbed Dart as its next QB with Judge seated feet away — was whom Dart had chosen to spend his big moment with.

"He celebrated with the people who helped him get there. It was a mature decision. It wasn't about being in the spotlight. It was about being around the people he cared about."

I just watched this and am pumped

Probably a lot of the same things that have been posted but figured I'd share.  My only real draft want was not taking Sanders at 3 or overdrafting a QB.  I wanted Carter and got him, then found out about this in the AM before work.  Bold move I hoped they'd do.

It's a calculated risk worth taking. If Daboll had a good feeling about Daniels and Allen but not guys who didn't make it then I trust this.  I feel much better about this than Jones for what it's worth.  Looks like he can ball and the 5th year aspect is important.  Let Wilson do his thing a while, nothing's stopping them from taking a QB next year too if this season is an utter disaster.

"Mock the New York Giants all you like. They deserve it. But they have won a playoff game more recently than the Steelers — who haven't even been competitive in one in nearly a decade — and they made the pick the Steelers needed to make Thursday night.

"The Giants got Jaxson Dart. The Steelers did not.

"The Giants now have a potential franchise quarterback. The Steelers do not."

"Ben Roethlisberger clearly sees a little of himself in the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Dart. On his "Footbahlin' " podcast, Roethlisberger said he "really likes" Dart and praised him for his "gunslinger mentality," his running ability, his toughness and his creativity.

"There's just something there," Roethlisberger said. "Man, he can just make the ugly look good."

"Jack Ham, the legendary Steelers linebacker and longtime Penn State football analyst, told me he is "a fan of Jaxson Dart" and labels Dart an "outstanding" player. Ham would have endorsed the pick."

This is an interesting pre-draft discussion with Charlie Weis, Bob Papa, and Chris Bisignano.

One quick story - the first summer Dart was at Ole Miss Charlie was visiting his son and sat in on a QB meeting.  At the end of the meeting Dart approached Charlie and asked if he could talk to him for a couple of minutes.  Charlie said sure.  Dart's question was, "Coach, what's the difference between a good quarterback and a great quarterback."

After watching this I'm wondering if there is any chance that Dart could Wilson Wilson.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.
