Who Will Be The Primary Coach To Develop Dart?

I can't help but think of a comparison between JJ McCarthy and Jaxson Dart in terms of how they will be developed.  With Minnesota, they have no other QB to compete for starting QB so JJ has the complete attention of Kevin Connell, the QB coach, OC, everybody.  Also, JJ has a head coach who is not under any pressure to win or else he loses his job.

Dart has a head coach on the hot seat who has to win more games in 2025.  The Giants brought in two experienced QBs to try to win more games.  It feels a bit to me that Daboll, Kafka and Tierney will be focused on getting Wilson (and Winston to a lesser extent) honed in on the Giants offense and what they expect of him with Dart watching indirectly and listening and mimicking Wilson and having him as someone to ask questions to.

Nobody I don't think will be focused solely on Dart.  Is that a good thing?  I'd almost like to see them devote someone (maybe an assistant QB coach they can source) whose job is 100% Jaxson Dart.  Am I wrong here?

I think Daboll may give up the playcalling duties. Tierney will be glued to Dart, but there is too much much going on to be focusing on a game plan practice week and in the game. Daboll has a free year and a lifeline with this pick.

Jon Gruden told Dart he needs to focus on three things:

1) Taking care of his body and not taking unnecessary hits to be able to play for 12 years.

2) Learn pass protections.  Said it's not sexy but the best QBs obsess about knowing this.

3) Don't be aggressive when it's not there but instead extend the series and get aggressive in another spot.

This is really sound advice for the unique makeup of this kid.

It's not just coaching.   Dart will get to observe how a Super Bowl-winning top QB conducts his business.  In some ways, that will be more valuable than the coaching.

I would think those points would hold true for any rookie QB really. But especially so for someone like Dart who has a load of potential, but is less starter-ready. With 2 veteran QB's ahead of him NY may be the perfect landing spot for him.

If you watch the highlight reels you'll see him getting blasted on certain sacks (one of the, by the way, was Abdul Carter). In addition, you'll see him going head-over-heels getting tackled on called run plays and/or scrambles downfield. He is foolishly fearless at times. Okay in the back yard as a kid, but not good when a business is paying you tens of millions.

Bob - Before Dart ever hits preseason camp, I'd like one coach to be assigned to him to keep drilling those points home while they do throwing drills together.  It can't just be when one coach occasionally sees him as part of talking to QBs.  We drafted him to be our future STARTING QB not a career backup.  He needs extra handling.

The real question about pressure here is nit what the HC is experiencing or the amount of time a QB will be receiving from the staff.  Dart will have little pressure for awhile.  McCarthy has not played a down yet, and spent most of his college time, handing the ball off, will be expected to compete in a very tough division with getting into and winning playoff games at a minimum.  That's some serious pressure
